So the Twins are opening a new stadium, payed for by the taxpayers, who may or not be concerned with baseball at all. I wonder what Minnesotians are thinking of all this talk of dealing Santana? They already dropped Torii Hunter, and to lose Santana would be a blow, no matter what young players they get.
There are 3 ways this could work out realistically:
1) They unload him this winter to a team to be determined, the young players they get will underperform (to their fans at least) and won't be at their best for a few years
2) No team is willing to part with too much talent, Santana gets traded by the deadline for considerably less.
3) Unwilling to concede to less talent given, Santana finishes the year in Minnesota, the Twins get two draft picks for losing him, Minnesota fans are furious.
No matter what happens though, Santana is due at least a 140 million contract.
I personally believe the Yankees should aim for a trade with the A's Dan Haren.

I agree. Keep Johan. If he is worth a mother lode in trade value, then why trade him in the first place. Tell the owner to sell some extra Twinkies and just pay this guy. Get some bats in FA or from the farm and build from within like my Dodgers used to before FAs like Juan Pierre and Luis Gonzalez starting looking like the keys to a championship-NOT!
