The Toronto Raptors season ended last night with a heartbreaking one point loss to thte Nets. Right away I started looking back on the game that could have been, the 7th and deciding game here in Toronto, in front of a jam packed standing room only crowd at the Air Canada Centre. This season has been incredible though. The Raptors are like the Pittsburgh Penguins of the NBA, they're young and talented and have amazing potential. I have to give it to them though, because you don't go from having the first pick in the draft to winning the division.
The Raptors have changed the face of the NBA with a crowd that rivals the intensity of those in Europe, and a team that is as multi-cultural as the city itself. Bryan Colangelo has been a saint in his first year, playing off the city's multiculturalism in order to attract foreign players to come to the team. It has certainly paid off too because the Raptors redefine the NBA by giving up on the 'Superstar' mentality, and actually begin playing as a team. The emergence of Chris Bosh, TJ Ford and Jose Calderon were the perfect mix along with the experience of the longest serving Raptor Morris Peterson. The playoff run was magical and the fans were undoubtedly the loudest in the NBA. With Garbajosa back in the lineup next year and playoff experience welling up in the young Raptors team, don't expect the Atlantic Division Champions banner to be lonely for long.

Yeah, the Raptors will contend in the east for a long time to come. But I don't think you can call a first round loss a "magical playoff run."
