Kim Clijsters has given a whole new meaning for the term "early retirement." The former world No. 1 is retiring from professional tennis at 23. 23?!?!??! Life is really just starting at 23.
At 23, I was fresh out of college working at my first job in Philadelphia. The world was my oyster...still is. But I don't know what I would do for the rest of my life if my professional career ended. But if money was no object I have a few ideas...
- Go to bed late and sleep in every day
- Go to at least one game at every single professional sport arena/stadium in the U.S. and write a fan's perspective of concessions
- Travel whenever I felt like
- Buy a professional team just so I could say I owned a professional team
Oh the places I would go...the things I would do...the people I would meet
Snap back to reality. What would you do if you were able to retire young?

Have an entirely different career, such as the fashion lines Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova are launching.
In the modern game of women's tennis, youth shall be served. we are no longer going to see twenty-year careers in the top flight in the women's ranks, as we did with Navritalova, Everet and King. Perhaps Serena Williams will have the sort of longevity that would let her take her place among the greatest ever to play in the women's game, but the emphasis on youth means that 23 is considered OLD for a women's tennis player.
