Jonathan Ogden

Jonathan Phillip Ogden, known by JO to many may have pancaked his last defensive end. He was a top Offensive Tackle in the NFL for many years and now that may be ending.

JO was born on July 31, 1974 in Washington, DC. JO attended UCLA and was an Olympic level shot-putter there. He played football for the Bruins and in his freshman and sophomore years he only allowed 2 sacks. He was given the Outland Trophy in 1995 and then declared for the NFL Draft. He entered the draft with a new team in the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens had the 4^th pick and were ready to build a winner. They decided to start with the giant from UCLA. The drafted Ogden 4^th overall and he became the first draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens. The rest is history. Jon made the Pro Bowl in every year since 1997. He was All-pro from 1997-2006. He has been a perennial superstar and reached his paramount in 2000. The Ravens made it to the Super Bowl being lead by their other superstar drafted in 1996, Ray Lewis. The Ravens won the Super Bowl and Lewis was named MVP. But, JO was a major part in this huge victory for the city of Baltimore.

JO has played many different roles in the Ravens franchise. JO has caught 2 passes in his career. Each 1 yard receptions and touchdowns. He has become a legend in Baltimore and has become a fan favorite. He also has become a known player around the league. He is current tied for the tallest player in the NFL at 6 ft 9 in. Maybe, NBA is in his future. Ah, just joking.

JO's career has likely come to an end now. He is one of the best Ravens off all time and one of the best offensive linemen ever. He, no doubt, will be in Canton. His #79 is retired by UCLA. I know for a fact, his number 75 will be retired by the Ravens.

Sorry, David, but Orlando Pace wasn't and isn't better than Ogden. I'd say that Ogden was the best OL of our time (Larry Allen and Bruce Matthews come close, but neither of them played the all-important LT position). His presence will no doubt be missed on the field.
