Cheerleaders for Baseball

Alright, I was surfing around SI.com, and noticed week8 for cheerleaders in the NFL, and I had a thought come back to me that I have pondered over before:  What if there were cheerleaders in Baseball?  Alright, I understand that you don't want the possibility of interference with pop flies among others, but what does everyone think of that?  They could perform during warm up's/before the game commences, Add a little spice and lenghten then 7th inning stretch by a little, even do a routine after the game is over!  There could be a small squad on top of the dugouts during play to get more fans involved.  I realize that the great American past time has had it's ups and downs with fan support, and even though things seem to be in an upswing right now for baseball as a sport, I think this would just give it another kick in the **** to get more fans pumped during games.  Anyone else have some thoughts on this?

Hey A-Rod, how about $9 Million?

You know, the biggest talk right now is about A-Rod opting out of his contract.  Personally, while not a huge A-Rod fan, I can not deny the impact he had with us during his tenure in pinstripes during the regular season.  However, he knew season long, if he opted out of his contract, the Yankees were not going to deal with him.  Hey, I'll tell you what A-Rod, if you wanna be a Yankee, and you cost us 21 Million, how about you take a 21 million contract cut, and we will call it even?  Lord know you have enough money right now that your family will be set past the next 5 generations!  As for your agent wondering why you can't be treated like Mo, or Jorge, lets look at two simple factors:  Time in uniform, and Salary.  Oh wait, lets look at one more thing, they didn't make the Yanks lose 21 mil, and then ask them still talk to them.  Hey A-Rod, if you want one piece of Advice, do yourself a huge favor, drop that piece of $hit Scott Boras, he is a damn snake in the grass, who only wants more money so he gets a bigger percentage.

The Catcher and Reliever

With Joe Torre being a front runner for the Dodgers (Hey Joe, can't get em back in Brooklyn, but you can go to them), I think that there is going to be a strong chance for Jorge and Mariano to glance in L.A.'s direction.  Both strong voices for Joe to remain a Yankee, who knows, maybe they are holding out right now to see what happens there, and have their agents contactr GM Colletti about a deal.  I mean, c'mon, Mo is one of the greastest closers the game has ever see, although he is getting older, and probably closer to retirement, he still has juice left for a few more seasons.  And yes, the Dodgers already have Martin as a catcher, but he is no Jorge.  Yes, the Yankes now have a new manager, but I am sure that there is going to be some discomfort from the senior players who have played with Joe Girardi to now having to listen to him.  Now, don't get me wrong, I am a die hard Yankee fan, grew up across the river from the stadium when I lived in Harlem, that's all I know, is Yankees.  I would love to see our closer and catcher stay, but I can't discard the possibility that these guys could be wearing Dodger blue next year.
