Ban Maple Bats
MLB should close this barn door before the cow gets out. Ban maple bats before some player gets a career ending injury. Whre are the ash bat ? hit with ash. These guys today can too.

Another bad start by Gorzelanny followed by a few good innings. I've noticed this pattern many times last season and not only among Pirates' starters. Have you noticed it too Pirates' pitching coach Jeff Andrews ? Do something ! Warm up these coddled arms before the game until they have thrown enough to simulate at least a couple of innings. They aren't making it past the fifth anyway, so let them get good and loose before they get in the game and see how they do.
I thought this was the Pirate's fans page. I know, I know, 15 losing seasons, woeful pitching, aenemic offense, and an often stumbling defense. But these guys are playing and hey, they win once in a while and even have a good game, once in a while. Any Bucs fans out there with some ideas and, or time to post them ? I think pitching is the key and it should be three strikes and you're out. If any of their starters aren't doing it for three starts in a row, send him down to pitch in AAA and bring someone up for three starts. Don't wait until September to see what you have on the farm.
It's starting to look like the Mets might be starting to put things together. I think they have been playing better than there have been over the past couple seasons and this year they are playing like the team they are: older but wiser, hurt but with some potential in their call ups/trades, and streaky on offense and pitching.
Minaya seems reluctant to take chances on young players and risk a losing season if there is any hope that it will come together with the mix of veterans and the few new bright lights they have. Can Mets fans survive a 2-3 year rebuilding process with 2-3 veterans playing part-time and the younger players they have sheparding in some new, young talent ? Yes. C'mon Mets. Let's get it done. It is still early in the season and they might put it together and make the play offs this year, but only if their competition slows or fails.
Another horrible performance by the Mets bullpen, specifically, Aaron Heilman. His numbers to date - 21 innings, 23 hits, 18 runs, a 5.82 ERA - suggest he needs a stint with the Zephyrs. Is there a Mets fan out there who doesn't wince in anticipated pain whenever Randolph calls on this guy ?
Please Willie, find someone else to pitch the seventh (sixth?). If you can't send Heilman down, start him and see if he can't go more than four innings or shop him and see if there are any GMs who haven't been watching any Mets games.
