Unreal voting

As stated in a recent TD, ELI did nothing to deserve the MVP.  Sure he played a DECENT game, and he avoided a sack at the end of the game, but his stats were average at best.

Check out the stats. MVP means most valuable:

RB: winner: 45 yards and 0 TD's VS loser: 36 yards and 1 TD

WR: winner: 6 for 84, 0 Td's VS loser: 11 for 103 yards and 0 TD

QB : winner: 255 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT VS loser: 266 yards, 1 TD and 0 Int

Wait a minute!

Vince Young is overrated!!  Vince Young is the future of the QB in the NFL!!   Durant for ROY in the NBA!!!   Oden will be the best big man in the NBA!!!   I actually really hate it when people come up with this crap so early in a players career.  Most of the time it is before the guy has even played 1 game (Durant, Oden) or its during their first year when they are lighting up the league.

For every guy that has wicked big success in the league as a rookie AND GOES ON TO BE A STAR PLAYER, there are many busts who never live up to the hype.  Look at Minnesota in the MLB and Fransisco Liriano.  Breakout rookie season, only to be derailed by injuries in his first year.  Everyone was pinning the world series hopes with this guy and Santana... but when Liriano went down, so did the twins.  Who knows if he will ever come back.  Anyone ever hear of a guy named Alexander Daigle?  Top pick in the NHL, who basically amounted to a pack of peanuts and a cola.  The guy did nothing, but every scout in the league wanted him.

NFL wide outs bore me

Ever since my boy Rice retired... i have been pretty bored with the quality of wide recievers in the NFL.  You got guys that just run their mouths all the time (T.0. , Chad, Moss just to name a few) and guys that are so inconsistent, its frustrating to watch (Coles, Peerless, Burress etc...).  I think the best guy in the game right now is arguably Marvin Harrison.  He almost always comes out with 100% effort, doesn't talk a lot of crap, and doesn't cry about his touches or his team (of course, there isn't much to whine about when ur catching a lot and winning all the time).  I would like to see him on a weaker team, just because as the front running wide out in the league (in my opinion) it would be interesting to see if he could still be an elite reciever, and if he could still be a class act.

Throwdown Voting

So I decided to go against the norm and write a topic about the website, instead of recent sporting news.  I was reading some backlogged Throwdowns, and got to wondering about the voting results.  What do fans of this site, base their vote on when reading a Throwdown?

In one Throwdown, a blogger talked about the Bertuzzi cheapshot back when Bert played for Vancouver.  The guy talked about the "hit" on Matt Cooke who played for Colorado.  UMM  wake up buddy.  If you are gonna comment on an issue, at least get your facts somewhat correct.  Even if this guy had a great point, would I vote for him now?  Probably not.
