Monday's Five Thoughts And One Look Ahead

1.         How good was Paul Pierce yesterday afternoon?  P-square just put the Boston franchise on his back and had a game for the ages in a wonderfully played Game 7 against Cleveland.  This was the best Celtics clutch performance since Larry Legend roamed the parquet floor.  I suppose this puts to rest the debate on whom the man is in crunch time for the Celtics.  With that said, I would still like to see Kevin Garnett assert himself more in key spots.

Five thoughts from yesterday, one must see for today

Yesterday's Five Five:

1.         Roger Clemens is about the seediest character that I've seen.  One thing to cheat and lie about it.  It is another thing to seemingly live your life as a total lie.  Somewhere in California, Barry Lamar Bonds is so happy that you have come to the rescue.  My question is, would the media be this nice if Barry would have been the alleged lover of a 15-year old singer?

Breaking Down The Top Eight National Title Contenders

After dissecting a lot of hoops over the past few weeks, including the Tennessee-Memphis Volunteer State showdown Saturday night, here is how I would rate the eight true National Title contenders in hoops.

1. North Carolina

Strengths:

Tyler Hansbrough is a beast down low. Stephenson and Thompson contribute to create a huge front line. Roy Williams has been able to build quality depth after the Tywon Lawson injury.

Weaknesses:

KG acquisition makes Celtics top dog in the East

I know, I know, it is almost football time in America and I am as excited for its kickoff as anyone, but I could not help noticing the Boston Celtics becoming relevant again by trading with the moribund Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Garnett. The NBA's flagship franchise has languished in mediocrity for nearly two decades, but Danny Ainge has (accidentally???) put together an instant contender in the NBA's Eastern Conference (which is slightly better than the D-League at this time).

Adam Jones has eaten his own dots!!

Let me go on record as saying that I, personally, was rooting for the enigmatic, yet immensly talented Adam "Pacman" Jones to make it as a success in the National Football League. He's the short in stature, but big in bravado Tennesse Titans cornerback who overcame a tough childhood in the rough and tumble neighborhood of College Park, GA. His dad was murdered when he was a youth, his mother battled personal demons, and he was raised primarily by his grandmother. Adam Jones has the type of life story that makes you just want to root for the kid. He's the guy who flew just straight enough, despite not hanging around the best influences, at Westlake High School to earn a scholarship to West Virginia University. He was the spitfire cornerback that never saw another player he was in awe of. His performance in 2004 on Thursday Night football against the University of Miami and their brash tight end, Kellen Winslow, made it known to all that Adam Jones was a football player to be reckoned with.
