Here is something I found on Georgetown's Princeton motion offense.
http://coachingbetterbball.blogspot.com/
What I know about the Princeton offense is it allows you to get relatively easy lay-ups without having the biggest big guys....its a pretty difficult offense to run(at least at the highest level).
I'm not all that familar with the Princeton Offense. I do, however, know that it involves cutting backdoor quite a bit.
Can someone please explain to me how you run the Princton Offence? e-mail me ur answer
It may work, ef, but best defense would be a very controversial topic. Personel, opponent, and situation all play into what is the best defense at the time. There are too many other factors.
We should have a tourney about real basketball. Like best defense and stuff like that.
Oh, I thought you meant half court GOAT. I like full court 1-3-1 but not halfcourt.
Denis, you will trap the person in the corner the first few times.
And if you have a good 1-on-1 defender in the middle of the press than the other team won't break it that easily. Because many teams like to put their big guy in the middle, it's even more in our favor since many big guys don't handle the ball very well.
In a 1-2-1-1 fullcourt press all you need to do is dribble down the middle of the court. If you get trapped by the baseline, you are dead.
Cool idea for a group. I'm not a fan of basketball, but it's still a cool group.
How is a 1-2-1-1 fullcourt press absurd? A TON of teams use it. I like it because it creates turnovers in the backcourt.
And a 1-3-1 works if you have the right guys to play it, including a quick guard to play down low and run the baseline.
1-3-1 gives up way too many shots on the corners.
Come on GOAT, 1-2-1-1 is just absurd. It is terrible!
l'm in highschool and the only thing my coach usually runs is a motion offence where the 2 guard and small forward start at the box and the forward/centers start at the top and then they come and set picks for us a and then the piont guard gives up the ball and we dribble to the corner and get it too the big man. ls there anything else that can be done in that set??
Hey Badgerfan07 that is called harassing the harraser,it can become very annoying to a team who is putting so much energy into their defense
Here are my favorite defenses:
a) 1-3-1
b) 1-2-1-1
c) man-to-man
Other stuff is okay, but these three are my favorites.
Don't play basketball for my school for 3 reasons:
1. Coaches are jerks. They only play guards, and it's all politics (if you know what I mean).
2. They only play man to man and if you're an avg. ballhandler, you won't make the squad.
3. They run this idiotic motion offense that G-Town ran. Plus the coaches think they're John Thompson.
I'm a big fan of 3/4 court pressure...just something about it that I really like
lol, one of the group tags is suicides...
I'm not a huge fan of a fullcourt press. One good ballhandler can beat you in a second. If I have to apply pressure, I'm probably leaning towards a half court trap of some kind.
I love it when I'm on a team who presses, but I hate playing teams who press
I want to try the 1-3-1, but our coach is a guy who just wants to stick with man and 2-3...
1-3-1 is a great trap defense, but I hardly ever see it run in my area.
I like being one of the up guys in a 2-3, but we never play it...We also never press unless we are down in the second half with less that 5 minutes...
I really like doing 1-3-1, although I also like doing box and 1.
I like box and 1, especially when your team has a great on-ball defender (me)
Tomorrow I will write a blog on my most memorable basketball game. If you guys want to do the same, go for it.
5'9"
I'm a better Power Forward, but I'm too short to play that for the school team...
Come on Denis! You shouldve got more specific with the poll. Like 1-3-1, 1-2-2, man, 2-3 (yuck), box and 1, diamond and 1 you know.
6 foot.
I play PG too. For certain teams Im PG but for high school i am C.
I play point and a little off the ball.
Off Guard/SF as well for my school team, but in rec, I'm either a PG or a center...try to figure it out...
What position do you play?
I play off-guard/small forward.
