My Shoes Get 50 Highway Miles Per Gallon...

Hey, this is my first blog for Pre's People, which is a group for people that run. Competitively, for fun, for times, it doesn't matter. If you run, check it out.

This is going to be a short blog, but here we go. Last week my cross team started some non-mandatory practices, just to get us going before we actually start near the end of the summer. Our coach told us about this website, www.mapmyrun.com.

mapmyrun.com is a site for runners. It's name is pretty self-explanatory. If you join, you can map out your runs using Google Earth (when you map, switch the view to sattelite or hybrid). What makes it even better is that the site calculates the distance of your run, bike, hike, or whatever you did. Then you can name your run, make it public or private, and save it in your profile and your training.

Back At It

So this is the first blog for Pre's People, a group for all you runner's out there, in a while, so I will try to make it short.

On June 1, I ran my first 5K since November, 2007, in an effort to gauge where I am before my cross country training really kicks in.  This summer I plan to do the most intense training regimen of my high school career thus far because, well, I want to win.  My school's team was somewhat dominate in the past in cross country, but is winless in the five years since it has moved from the lower conference to the higher conference of our athletic association.  After cross country ended last year, we congregated and determined that we were going to work hard this summer.

PR's & Goals

With spring track around the corner for most people there will be those long winter and early spring runs and soon those short and fast runs in the warm weather. Everyone wants to PR in their races since it is the greatest felling you can get as a runner. I remember people talking about wanting to post PR's but we can also say how we progressed and how much time we have taken off out PR's. You can also list what time you would like to hit in parenthesis. I will put mine below.

I am officially training for a triathlon. It is a swim through a lake from an island to a beach (about 400 yards). Then its a 4.4 mile bike ride, and a 2.2 mile run. I'll post updates on my training here.
Oh, well I don't know these names.

Does anyone else think our name would be cool if we were "Bannister's Boys?"
