A group honoring a GREAT man. Roberto Clemente
Roberto Clemente has always been one of my favorites and he is a true hero. People often have athletes as their heros which I dont really get. They are playing a game. Your heros should be war veterans or people who volunteer for charity events or God, but I do think that a couple of athletes deserved to be viewed as a hero and Roberto is undoubtably number one.

Roberto played RF for my favorite team of all time, the Pirates. Clemente was truly a great man, who, as many of you know, was in a tragic plane accident that prematurely took his life. Now, the worst part about Clemente's death is that he didn't die in a gang accident. He didn't die doing something bad or illegal. He died in the offseason. Roberto did A WHOLE LOT of charity work in the offseason and was an extremely down to earth person. When Clemente's home town was struck by a massive earth quake, he stepped up to a bigger plate and poured his time into working on arranging emergency relief flights. Basically, the first three planes got rerouted unplaned. The planes basically got hijaked from what I took from it. Clemente went with the 4th flight and RISKED HIS LIFE TO HELP OTHERS. His plane crashed in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico on December 31st. No one ever found Clemente's body.
