BIO NOTE : Hillman spent the past five season( 2003-2007 ) as a manager in Japn and 12 season ( 1990-2001 ) managing in the New York Yankees minor league system . In Japan , he led the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters to three postseason appearances and won the Japan series title and Konami Cup in 2006 to give the fighters their title since 1962. In his 18th season as a manager , he has won more than 1,200 games and has a winning percentage above .500.

Beside the Cardinals ( 1998, 2006-current ) , he has played for the Florida Marlins ( 1999-2003 ) and the New York Mets ( 2004-05 ) . He began his career as a reliever, but has worked his way into the starting rotation the last two seasons.
