“Home, home again.
I like to be here when I can.

And when I come home cold and tired, it's good to warm my bones beside the fire.

Far away across the field, the tolling of the iron bell calls the faithful to their knees to hear the softly spoken magic spells.

Dogs, Pigs and Sheep Presents: The Videos -- Volume 70

It hasnt quite been three-days -- there's only a handful of hours left 'til then -- but here it is: the 70th volume of The Videos.

Only 30 more until number-100. Isnt it exciting?

Anyway, I got a bit lazy with this one. One, I didnt send out a fanmail letting everyone know I was posting one. Yeah, yeah, practice what you preach, but life goes on. And secondly, I had trouble figuring out what artists to feature. Didnt feel like digging for a while looking for artists and songs that are only known to the diehards. So, I just picked a simple format.

This volume features five-videos from my five favorite artists. And then, to be as pleasing as can be, there's a bonus video at the bottom, making it six-videos for your viewing/listening pleasure.

5. Pushit - Tool

The fifth spot is still under review in the Mac household. Numbers four-to-one are locked in, but number five is a bit iffy. So many artists but so little development with them all. This could've gone to the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Elton John, Iron Maiden, Slayer or Tool. In the end, it went to the artist that has four-albums that I adore: Tool. Those albums being Undertow, AEnima, Lateralus and 10,000 Days. I've featued Tool before and all songs that were included came from AEnima. So, I had to fine a different one and this was it, but it isnt really a video. Just a picture blog with the song; and I might add, the artwork featured is interesting much like the art rock heard during the 10:00 long video off Youtube.

4. Wishful Sinful - The Doors

I've got a confession to make: The Doors havent gotten their justice from me. They are here at number-four, but I really am yet to really discover the Doors. Sure, I've heard albums like L.A. Woman and The Doors, and bits and pieces of The Soft Parade, -- where this song comes from -- Morrison Hotel, Strange Days and Waiting For the Sun, but I'm really yet to go on a Doors binge or actually listen to the last four-albums I listed all the way through. There's still songs to be discovered, and it better happen quickly since I'm putting them in my Top 5. Anyway, this is a live performance from 1969 which was the same year the album this song is from was released. Very hypnotizing experience here.

3. In the Evening - Led Zeppelin

The combination of Plant's soulful voice and the borderline orgasmic sound of the drums and jazzy guitar makes this a classic that should get more recognition for Led Zeppelin. The album In Through the Out Door is one of Zeppelin's lesser known records but also one of their best, right along side Physical Graffiti and Led Zeppelin IV. This is a great live performance from 1979, much like the previous video here in this post.

2. Us and Them - Pink Floyd

Yet another live performance, this time from my second favorite artist and the best progressive rock band ever, Pink Floyd. "Us and Them" is a phenomenal song off one of their best albums Dark Side of the Moon. I've been on a Dark Side binge lately, jamming to it daily and never hitting the next button. It's a wonderfully captivating experience to listen to this concept album all the way through. And during  those periods of listening to this 35-year old album, I've realized that I made a big oops on my Top 100 Classic Rock Songs list: I forgot this song. Gave myself a few emphatic "Damn!"'s the past few days.

Anyway, straying back on course, this performance is from Floyd's last large scale concert, done in 1994 for an event known as Pulse. The best part of this song is easily the saxophone solo which is done flawlessly in this performance.

1. Fade to Black - Metallica

Remember how I said the sax solo in "Us and Them" was flawlessly executed? Yeah, this entire song is of the same description. This is a live performance from their 1989 show in Seattle, Washington during the Damaged Justice tour in celebration of their most recent release ...And Justice For All. The song here is one of the bigger landmarks in Metallica's career from Ride the Lightning. There were many, many other performances from this concert that I could've featured, but I thought that this one was one of the better ones.

BONUS VIDEO

Instant Karma - John Lennon

I'm done. Time to go vacuum the house and watch the Red Sox - Yankees game. Have a great day, DPS.

DPS The Videos Volume 69

Well, this is my first crack at blogging for DPS.My rock knowledge is easily surpassed, but I like my good rock music. My mood has been somewhat moody and edgey as a result of the previous 2 days. Some of these songs may reflect some feeling. So,just be easy on me everyone.

DPS Presents: Headbanging Friday Nights -- Volume X

Ugh. I'm tired, hungry and my stomach is curling up like a snake's tail. But hell, I'm here, watching my "Live S/hit: Binge and Purge DVD" and bringing you your 10th volume of Headbanging Friday Nights.

So, here it comes. An extra lazy edition.

1. The Ocean - Led Zeppelin

2. Slave to the Grind - Skid Row

3. Last in Line - Dio

4. Been Caught Stealing - Jane's Addiction

5. Desert Rain - Iced Earth

Anyway, time to eat something that wont make me puke, and watch some TV. Sucks to be feeling so tired and sluggish on a Friday night.

Mac is done.
