I had to let folks know what I think about Lowell after his disgraceful performance on Saturday afternoon at Fenway park. This player was tagged out by Cano of the yankees, instead of moving he deliberately bodychecked Cano, for that he should have been beanballed the next time up,but having got away with that,he then on a throw to the Yankees first baseman Mientkiewz, having passed the bag,he knees Mientkiewz in the back of the head, now it was not a collision,he was past the bag,and to try and knock the ball out of his hands,he deliberately ran over him,now he is concerned and he knows him, what has that got to do with anything,he is a hypocrite, and his manager is no better, calling it a collision,a collision is when two players crash together,Mientkiewz did not crash into Lowell,Lowell deliberately knocked him down, and all those crocodile tears do not wash.Joe Torre was being very generous after the game when he said "These things happen"They only happen Joe when someone does the dirty,as Lowell did. Also the Red Sox fans were supposed to have given him a standing ovation as he was being taken off the field to hospital, well I saw the game and what happened was that out of the sellout crowd of 36,000 plus about six or eight thousand did so,but the rest just stared and also cheered, but of course no one wants to believe that, but I like many others saw it,and will not forget it either, remember this when Mientkiewz left the Red sox with the game ball from the \World Series clincher,he was bombarded with hate mail, death threats,to members of his family as well,he was booed constantly by Red Sox fans at any opportunity at Fenway, since he joined the Yankees,he has received further threats of bodily harm, and he has been quoted as saying he is very sad,and angry at the treatment by a lot of Red Sox fans,if Lowell wants to play this way, then I expect him to be treated the same way in the future, wether at Fenway or at the Stadium.Lowell did not have the nerve to say it,but I will,he thought I will do some retribution to a Yankee, for a supposed elbow from A-Rod to Pedroia,I dont think I saw Cano bodycheck Lowell,or Mienkewitz run over Lowell from behind,or do my eyes decieve me,and some of the anti Yankee press and commentators casually glossed over these incidents, but when A-Rod did something contentious oh that is different.Well remember this,"He who lives by the sword, will die by it"I have watched baseball for a very long time,I am 58yrs of age,and if this is playing baseball then maybe Selig should involve himself in these matters, but he will not, because he has no wish to be controversial, and besides ,he hates the Yankees. Thanks for reading this ,bye for now--John Hurley

Absolutely right, I hope someone clocks Lowell next time we meet. But hey, Cano still made a sweet double-play throw. GO YANKEES!

You are a nutcase! Your facts are incorrect. Your logic is confusing at best. And you have no idea what you are talking about. IF YOUR YANKEES THOUGHT THAT EITHER PLAY WAS DIRTY THAN THE YANKEES WOULD HAVE GONE AFTER HIM!!!!!!

Don''t you remember how the Yankees went after Pedro in 2003?

Mike Lowell is one of the nicest players in baseball. He was a Yankee as a rookie & was taught by YOUR ORGANIZATION to play hard, but clean, at all times. The play at second was clean! As far as the play at first....it was clearly an accident. Doug & Mike are good friends & it was not intentional. EXPLAIN TO ME HOW LOWELL STOPS RIGHT ON FIRST BASE.....IN LITTLE LEAGUE, WE ARE TAUGHT TO RUN PAST THE BASE....THAT WAS ALL THAT WAS!

By the way, go read about Mike Lowell.....you picked on the wrong guy to go off on. He is one of the most decent people on the planet. He doesn't deserve this crap!

Yanks fan here - Lowell played it hard, not dirty. I disagree with Tim McCarver (who doesnt) when it said it was the right play. The right play is not to get tagged out and allow the batter more time to get to first. He initiated contact - in a chippy fashion, but theyre big boys, making big bucks in the biggest rivalry. Play on.

As for the Doug M collision - total accident, and he felt horrible about it.

Apubonmarche,

I disagree. McCarver wasn't quite right, either. Lowell should have never slowed down....he should have run right over Cano (perfectly acceptable) so that would have prevented a throw to first. By slowing, as he did, he didn't have enough momentum to knock Cano over. Had he completely stopped, Cano would have thrown to first, & then Lowell would have been out in a rundown. There was no way that Lowell gets to second base!

You are correct regarding the play at first!

I say great! I love the Yankees- Not a Mienkewitz fan. I say bring back Andy Phillips. or Trade him and a young pitcher to texas for Tex or maybe Tampa for Pena. Glad this situation happened. gets an automatic out out of the lineup. this is the AL- no need for a first baseman with the bat skills of a pitcher.
