This guy is tantamout to an automatic out, every single game!!! He's hitting .215, and it's freaking August. I don't care how much money he makes, he should not be starting for this team, which needs every game they can win. Diaz should be starting in left every game, and Harris should be playing centerfield. Sit Andruw's loafing butt down. This is why Bobby Cox is a bumbler who's been outmanaged in the playoffs every single year but one. He refuses to sit the guys who don't perform and go with the hot hand, and he mismanages his pitchers. Smoltz should never have pitched the seventh, and Soriano should never have pitched the 8th. Cox has worn out Soriano's arm. Both Andruw Jones and Bobby Cox need to go and go fast.

This is the first year you could actually say he has SUCKED. Calm down we all have bad years.

How about someone named Bobby?

I have religiously watched the Braves play for 30 years now. I know baseball as well as anybody alive. I never have posted a comment in my life and was just looking for stuff on Matt Diaz when I came across the Aug 9th comment about Andrew Jones and I have got to vent. Andrew Jones is the worst position player hitter that has every put on an Atlanta Braves uniform. I don't care if Chipper one time said Andrew was the most talented player he had seen in the minors or whatever, or care how well he covers ground in center. He is the worst batter to ever play baseball. Except maybe for Mandosa and Bob Yuger. Bobby Cox is also a mediocre manager who sucks in post season. So I ask John S. the GM, what's the point with having Bobby as your manager when you know there is no chance he will win in the playoffs?

One more thing....The last couple of weeks some of the pitchers have been throwing inside fastballs to Andrew? Does that not throw up a red flag? Everybody in the world knows that he can't hit anything breaking low and away! There has got to be something to this. A conspiracy maybe. Maybe his agent is paying pitchers off. I'd like to think something like that couldn't happen, but if I'm not mistaken this is the last year on his contract and although it behooves me to think that any GM could think that he would be an asset instead of a liability, maybe his agent will try to get teams to focus on the HR's and RBI's. Put you cannot give me a legit reason why any major league pitcher would ever throw something inside. He will fall down chasing something outside!

I told you so, even John Schuerholz realizes what a mistake Andruw Jones was!

My prediction: Andruw Jones' batting average from this point forward in his career will be below .250.

Andruw Jones is absolutely amazing. I dont care what any of you say. He is an outstanding outfielder, and his batting could be better, but give him a break.

Andruw doesnt suck he is just slightly overrated but who isnt now a days

Folks anyone can have a bad year.......uhm Glavine......in any case who ever gets A.Jones will benefit greatly.We pay their salaries,yes I know but its entertainment folks!!!! Look I would gladly take Jones to come down for the Marlins but we just can't afford him....We all know that he is not going to get more than $13 or $14 mill a year if he does it will be on a short contract. The Braves have made a huge mistake by letting him go....I do agree that "BorASS" is a reason that the Braves have let him go...he is and will be a great part of the Braves history...remember he is the youngest player ever to homer in the world series.
All in all I hope the Braves reconsider and I just hope A.Jones stays to a team down south. Jones will be a steal in the free agent market....watch you'll see. GO BRAVES!!!!

wow u call urself an expert, wow. thats amazing. did u not catch the fact harris SUCKED the second half of the season? did u actually look at his previous seasons? i dont think his crappy stats were only this season. yes diaz should have a shot as the everyday LF. and do u honestly believe cox, u know the 3rd most winniest manager in history is the cause of them not making the playoffs? the reason why they won those 14 straight, is because of a few people that are whether not their anymore or out of their prime, Jones hit a pathetic 222, maddux gone, glavine gone, millwood gone, etc. etc. etc.

From looking at each reply after the one by Furrco back in October, some interesting things can be observed. Although Furrco may have been bold in his statements, all statements were factual. Responses to Furrco's statements were all emotional and not factual. Everything predicted has thus far played out exactly as predicted by Furrco. Fwab78 himself stated that the Braves roster was stacked with great pitching and yet the Braves were what 1 for 14 in making and winning the Series. Billy Martin, Tommy LaSorda, Tony LaRusa, Jim Leyland and many others would have won 3, 4 or more Series with those kinds of rosters. I have watched A Jones play this year after reading these blogs and must agree that Jones is over matched at the plate. Just thought Furrco's comments deserved to be defended.
