Think about it. This guy has disappointed every year. I'm white, but I'd be pretty pissed if I was black since Ty Willingham, with 'bad' recruits, certainly gave us better teams. But I guess its tougher to blame a jew, than to blame a black man, yup ... its less politically correct to blame a jew. Sad, but definitley true!
so if you cant win now... fire huh? so who can win it all in just 3 years? not even usc... all teams have a down year...wait till end of next year... if he dont do better then try somone new...i think the problem is the offensive line coach...and strength cond...our guys at the nfl combine could only do 12-15 reps of 225lbs... thats is the same amount qbs on other temas can do...
what the hell are you talking about...who'se a jew? he's catholic you idiot
I'm with NDC, OL and overall team strength is a BIG problems.
As ND fans we always want to win, but Charlie has had many holes to fill. It all started when sombody made Boob Davie HC, and followed that with Ty Willingham. So fire Charlie.... NOPE!
For all of TY Willigham fans out there, remember these 2 things: 1.Charlie won with your recruits when Ty couldn't. 2.the main reason for 07 struggles was lack of solid upperclassman (which are Ty's recruits).
we just had alot of inexpierience this year and hopefully we can get better for next year. hey look at our schedule we play no one
playing the race card is ridiculous at this point. Davie and Willingham got fired because of performance and recruiting. Some of the Alums didn't like those guys, period. Weis coached one of the worst seasons ND has ever had it was a brutal season to watch. He is a good recruiter not only players but coaches as well. He has proved himself in the coaching cirlcle as a man of principle, knowlede and more importantly respect. This season will bring about a different outcome.
Thank you Crean n` Crimson, your comment showed more intelligence than most of the people that post on FanNation.
Charlie should get two more years. If ND looks more like the ND team from 2007, then the team from 2005 alright, maybe it's time to find a new coach.
I'm with Crean n' Crimson.
When Charlie Weis and his #2 recruiting class end up in a bowl game in 2009 and then competing for a natl. championship on 2010, everyone who was screaming to the rooftops about firing Weis will suddenly be calling him a genius.
And thanks to technology and the emergence of message boards and blogs, we all get to witness this phenomenon unfold.
Weis shouldn't be fired. He is simply acting out his role in a perverse mythology where expectations can not be met due to the blindness of fans, alumni, school officials and athletes. Notre Dame hasn't been relevant since Pete Bersich dropped the pick in the BC game that cost them the championship in 1993. The athletes are slower and weaker than the competition. Weis hasn't got the training, experience or intelligence to cash the checks that his ego writes. The alumni act as though they are on a holy crusade while school officials strong arm less well known schools to play in large venues in order to cash in on the hatred that most fans feel for the program. It's professional wrestling in a less honest form. An inferior product is peddled because they are already being paid by television and they are not incented to improve.

Concerned - you talk very smart like. But you must not be a ND fan, cuz you sound like all the other ND haters. Yeah ND has been Sh**y since Lou's been gone. But Charlie is the first coach who has everything to bring ND back.
Yeah I see what you mean about the athletes at ND being slower and weaker.
ND landed the #2 recruiting class in the country according to Rivals and Scout in 2008.
They were ranked #8 by Rivals and #11 by Scout in 2007.
And in 2006, Scout had them at #5 and Rivals ranked them #8 in the country.
That's three consecutive seasons with a top ten recruiting class, capped off with arguably the best in the country this year.
So what are you talking about?
WHEN YOU'VE GOT MIXED UP SCHEMES AND PLAYERS BAD THINGS HAPPEN. LAST YEAR THE PANTRY (TY'S O-LINE) SO TO SPEAK, WAS BARE. TYS GUYS WERE THE BIG SLOW ROAD GRADERS, (ALA THE REDSKINS SMASH-MOUTH ETC). I THINK UNDER WEIS, ATHELETIC, QUICK GUYS ARE BETTER SUITED FOR TODAYS SPEED GAME. TODAYS GAME IS SPEED, SPEED AND MORE SPEED. REACH BLOCKING, CHIPPING ETC. BUT THESE PLAY-MAKERS ARE HARDER TO FIND AND TRAIN. NOW HE'S GOT THE YOUNG GUY'S WHO IN THE LONG RUN WILL BE WORTH THE DEVELOPEMENT. ALL GREAT TEAMS HAVE THIS IN COMMON, (THINK NY GIANTS)! THIS YEAR WITH A FEW BREAKS AND THE SCHEDULE AS IT IS A 6-6 OR 7-5 YEAR IS POSSIBLE. AFTER THAT 9-3 OR 10-2 THEN WATCH-OUT, THE WEIS SYSTEM WILL WORK.
just breathe.... if you fire Weis now... than someone else will jump in and win with all of weis recruits...then they will suck....so what then fire another coach? does the cycle end...? hey i'm not a college grad, or a genuis... but it takes time.. and we got the players coming... what fan jumps ship cause we lose? the same ones that jump the bandwagon when we win...this year should be better...alot of the teams we play this year have new coaches, new qbs or new systems to run... we return almost everyone... and how can hiring tenuta be wrong? ga tech was always ranked in top 25 blizting... and sacks.. trust this... deon walker will add some needed spark...and now all of last years losses will be fire to the soul for all our young guys...if charlie is so bad? why does he continue to recruit so good? he knows the game... and he is learning how to better teach it... remember.. in nfl it is a job to learn it... in college you must adapt to being away from home, learning all ur classes... and playing top notch football at notre dame....? besides... we got another montana in on the team now... (at the least it will pull some spotlite of of jimmy) ... relax.. history repeats.... we will win again... so clear off those bandwagon seats... Weis is the man... who else knows what it means to be irish?
im so tired of hearing about willinghams bad recruits, listen they are gone, brady, jeff, tom, they were ty recruits last years 3-9 team was weis, and you would be crazy to fire him after one bad year, he has supposedly got one of the best recruiting classes in 10 years and last years team was all to young
Rock 2023 - Look the only bad thing about Ty was his recruiting. He helped bring in the class of 2004. So the 5th years & the Sr. class have a lot of his players! But as Charlie showed in 2005 he can win with almost anybody, as long as he has enough bodies !
I mean the classes have to even out. The Sr. class has 7 or 8 guys TOTAL! The Jr. class has 23 or 24, the So. class has 18 or so, & 20+ Fr.
Things are on the up & up, The 09 class has some great kids already.
Chariie has to win at least 7 this year, and look competitive when they lose--otherwise it may be too much pressure for him to stay and he will resign.
If he wins 7 etc. then they may be poised for a top 10 showing in '09. If so, and the recruiting continues to bring in competitive athletes then ND is back and the haters will be chewing nails.
If he doesn't have a competitive team this season then it will probably be time to move on. The new AD can make that decision a lot easier than the one who gave him the ten year multi-million dollar deal.
We can revisit the issue in December.
I SAY FIRE MARK MAY, LETS SEE IF IT WILL BE 6 YEARS IN A ROW HE'D SAY WE'D ONLY WIN 1 OR 2 GAMES. I WISH LOU HOLTZ WOULD THROAT PUNCH HIS GOOFY SELF. THE GUY OBVIOUSLY HATES ND.
Mark May has a TV voice and a......... that's about it. I'm still wating for Lou to REALLY stand-up for ND, like we know HE wants.
I think things wil pan out and Weis will get the Irish back on track. He stays. Go Irish!!!
Like it or not, Ty had a terrible history as recruiter for ND. As HD, his last three recruiting classes failed to reach the best 25 recruiting classes according to Rivals.com, even when the 2003 class included B. Quinn, Abiamiri, Zbikowski and Samardzija. Classes 2004 and 2005 were simply dismal. The result: 2007 season. The mistake: Weis was either pretending or overcondifent on his ability to create schemes, which would have allowed ND to win games. Lesson learned and now this is 2008. Weis's first full class is about to ripe as they are ND current juniors and the freshmen class is full of good prospects. ND will return to the elite club in a couple of years with C. Weis as HD.
Mean to say HC (HEAD COACH) and not HD (typo)
