There ain’t no party like a Morgantown party! That’s right, the 2008 Princeton Review released its annual list of the top party schools in the nation and No. 1 is West Virginia University. Sure, some know WVU as the couch-burning school, but it also has all the fraternity parties and bars you could ever need. While many of the usual suspects are on the Top 20 list (Ole Miss, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Penn State) we’re more shocked at the University of New Hampshire which came in at No. 7, and UC Santa Barbara finishing above USC and UCLA. Here is the Top 10:

1. West Virginia University
2. University of Mississippi
3. University of Texas
4. University of Florida
5. University of Georgia
6. Penn State University
7. University of New Hampshire
8. Indiana University
9. Ohio University
10. University of California, Santa Barbara

Today, we not only want to know what you think of the Princeton Review’s list. We’re trying to figure out how any college party could top UCLA’s annual undie run, especially after seeing these pics, but the Bruins didn’t even make the Top 20, so what do we know? Tell us which schools deserve a higher ranking, and what blowout party is the best in the nation?

Where's Michigan???????

How did UCLA not make it in the top 10 w/ that undie run? Places like the Playboy Mansion and other rich/famous-people events probably detract from UCLA's party cohesiveness.

I've been to OU kinda overrated...WVU gets after it though, Dont really know about the rest, Although when I was in Austin for the OSU/Texas game that whole city is great!

Wisconsin should be on there. Wisconsin is like the biggest drinking state and that means good parties.

August 22, 2007  12:23 PM ET

Yeah, I've always heard of Wisconsin being a big party school, never experienced it though.

If you want to spend your college career partying I suggest going to Auburn and majoring in Sociology. Class only meets once a semester and the University will recognize you as a superior student. This leaves plenty of time for chasing tail. Oh, and there are even some girls there too.

West Virginia being ranked #3 last year was an insult. Morgantown is absolute lawless chaos. I have been to a lot of schools and never anything quite like it.

I've visited Penn State and Arizona State and I was blown away by how much partying goes on there. Wow.

And what about the University of Tennessee?? It's Crazy Orange, more like!!

Wisconsin.

They don't rank professionals with amatuers.

August 22, 2007  01:16 PM ET

thats funny...."Wisconsin.

They don't rank professionals with amatuers."

good stuff!

August 22, 2007  01:40 PM ET

when you party at Wisconsin, you get to do so with sausage-and-cheese-fed Midwestern cows called coeds

August 22, 2007  02:08 PM ET

Missouri holds its own. Larry Eustachy....enough said.

August 22, 2007  02:24 PM ET

Leave it to the SEC to get jealous and start the insults, I've heard of some small schools that party pretty well too, any small schools guys wanna rep that idea?

August 22, 2007  03:21 PM ET

That line was stolen. "They don't rank professionals with amateurs" was actually used by Playboy mag in their rankings a few years back in regards to West Virginia. I will give Wisconsin some credit though, they usually show up on these party school lists with WVU pretty regularly. I have never been to Madison, but anyone I know that has usually affirms that they belong. I would definitely stick Wisconsin in there ahead of some of the others (namely #15 UT and #19 Bama) who are big schools that bring it pretty weak.

In regards to small schools, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse can hang with any major college when it comes to partying. The largest Oktoberfest in the US and the annual Blatz vs. Old Style drinking competition will do the best drinkers in. Just don't walk down by the river after Bar time. The Mighty Mississippi has claimed about 9 drunk guys in the last 13 yrs.

SteelCurtain, check out snopes.com to put to rest the "professionals with amateurs" urban legend, that never appeared in Playboy for any school at any time. I hope some of these schools do not take the route Indiana University did when these rankings came out a few years ago. The administration cracked down campus-wide trying to bust all parties. However, they didn't do anything to change the reputation, just made it more dangerous by moving parties off campus allowing kids to drink and drive around Bloomington.

Actually, Playboy borrowed the line from Princeton Review, who in the mid 80s stated something to the effect of "Sorry LSU, professionals were not included in this survey". I guess the currend situation in New Orleans kept the Tigers off the list, but Game Day crew knows better...Geaux Tigahs!

August 22, 2007  05:08 PM ET

The "sorry, we don't rank professionals" line has been debunked. It has been used as a defense by numerous schools, but Playboy itself has stated that it never used the line with reference to any particular school.

That being said, Wisconsin being left off this list is a crime. Two years ago, Princeton named Wisconsin #1 party school. Last year, Playboy agreed. And this year we're not even on the list!? What's up with that!?

Regardless of who said or did not say that line, WVU is #1 and we noone can argue that.
