Philip Rivers (Peter Read Miller/SI)

Who is the most overrated quarterback in the NFL?

Philip Rivers, Chargers 13%
Tony Romo, Cowboys 10%
Eli Manning, Giants 10%
Vince Young, Titans 8%
Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers 7%

[Based on a survey of 320 NFL players]

FAST FACTS: Among offensive players who voted, Romo was most overrated (11.7%).... Eli's brother Peyton was 10th on the list (2.7%).... With Young on the sidelines since Week 2 the Titans had won four straight behind Kerry Collins.... Romo has been picked off in eight straight games, the league's longest streak.... After scoring 10 points in a loss to Miami, Rivers and the Chargers are just 2–3.

This is an NFL poll from the October 13, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated.

What's your take on this poll?

Why don't you do one on running backs? I disagree with the results of your quarterback poll as I am a Charger fan. I live 10 miles from the stadium. However we have the most over rated running back ever! LT had a couple of good years. Then that was it! He's done NOTHING since 2006. Oh he'll have a good run now and then, score a TD after somebody else got it close to the goal line. I always hear that he's injured. Guess what? He still isn't performing is the bottom line. He has been "injured" since about November of 2007. I've been telling the sports casters the Chargers need to trade LT while there are still teams that think he's good. He is currently 19th on the NFL rushing leader list. Sproles has a higher yards per run average. LT is a pathetic 3.7 37th on the NFL rushing list. Sproles has a 5yd average. Michael Turner is #2 on the NFL list. Man! Why didn't the Chargers keep him? Now they have a 3rd down back at best as the starter! LT it's time to hang them up, it's over! Robert C. Santee Ca.

Here is a classic example of a spoiled so called Charger Fan. Rob C. is an IDIOT!!! I'm sure he's been chanting "LT, LT, LT" since he arrived here in 2001. LT has been a TOP 3 running back ever since he put on that Blue and Gold jersey.

He's had a couple good years??? How about 7 of them. When the O-LINE starts blocking and LT stops producing then and only then will you have a leg to stand on.

Regarding this QB Poll, I think it's spot on. Rivers had a GREAT first year starting followed by an inconsistent sophomore 2nd year. He's on track this season to do pretty well. The jury's still out.

Romo is a CHOKER. When he wins a playoff game, we can talk.

Dont blame bad plays/choice at the ending a choker, thats a cop out, he played like **** when it really mattered most, enough said. I could see if he chocked during the seasons but he hasnt yet.....you play the game to win, yes...but not everyone can win all the time, hes got plenty of years and plenty of long-term players on this Cowboy club to get some rings..and noone can doubt it.

Charger fan? Dont take your anger out on Cowboys b/c your Chargers are .500

I'm not going to say Rivers is the "most" over-rated QB there is, since I havent had the the time to see as many games as I normally do, but he's certaintly over-rated (on this team) at this point in his career. However if you were to do a poll on the most arrogant self-centered QB in the league then Rivers would no doubt be at the top. I did not watch him in in college, and dont know what kind of beef he had/has with his college, but at a local card show here in San Diego, he practically trashed his former school and its fans (using the term rednecks as well as other garbage) in front of a large group of people, along with me and my kids. That was ceratainly uncalled for as an professional who my kids look up to. Too many arrogant professionals out there, but he's #1. (charges $20 for a 2 second autograph?)

How can you not admit Romo is a choker? In his first playoff game, he couldn't hold a snap for a game winning field goal against the Seahawks. Then last year, the GREAT Romo was 18 of 36 for 201 yards with a TD and an INT (QB Rating of 64.7) against the Giants.

Check out your QB's career numbers, 64.6% completion %, 146.7 yds/gm and a QB rating of 97.8. Now go look at his playoff stats (I know only 2 games). He's a mere shadow of himself.

Assuming you make the playoffs, I can't see how you Cowboys fans would expect anything more from Romo. Don't forget, Romo also holds a record, 8 straight games with an INT.

Believe me, my team being .500 has nothing to do with Romo being a CHOKER. If it wasn't for a lucky TD against the Bengals your Cowboys would also be 3-3. No need to get upset. I think Rivers and Romo are a bit over-rated.

The numbers don't lie. The poll means absolutley nothing. Statistics do.

Rivers is a stud, and he's only going to get better. Don't take my word for it, just watch the stats, and forget the opinion polls. Stats don't lie.
