Sheets, pulled from Monday's game versus the New York Mets after five innings because of slight tightness in his left groin, is expected to make his next scheduled start on Saturday against San Diego.
The Brewers said the right-hander was pulled because of "very slight tightness." But both general manager Doug Melvin and manager Ned Yost said Tuesday the injury was minor and they are confident the oft-injured Sheets will not miss a turn as the Brewers try to reach postseason play for the first time since 1982. "It's not serious because I didn't even go see the trainers (before Tuesday night's game) and they didn't come to me either," Yost said.
day-to-day with Left game - right groin tightness
Sheets was removed from the team's game against the New York Mets Monday after five innings with tightness in his left groin. Sheets had retired 10 consecutive batters when he was replaced by pinch-hitter Joe Dillon in the bottom of the fifth.
Sheets has a history of injuries, and averaged only 21 starts a year from 2005-07. This year, though, he has missed only one start and made his 27th start on Sunday. He was 12-7 entering the game, and has a 2.97 ERA.
