Hamels was one out shy of his third complete game of the season Thursday, when he held Atlanta to one run and five hits while striking out seven in 8 2-3 innings of a 4-1 victory.
Hamels, who earned his first career shutout against the Braves on May 15, gave up his only run with two outs in the ninth before Tom Gordon got the last out to save the win. Hamels is 4-1 with a 2.31 ERA in six starts since the beginning of June.
