While the SEC is the best conference in college football, they will not have a team in the National Championship game next year.

Florida, LSU, and Georgia are going to be the best teams in the conference. They also will play each other.

LSU plays at Florida, Georgia plays at LSU, and Florida plays Georgia in Jacksonville.

LSU also plays at Auburn and Alabama at home. Florida plays Miami and Tennessee at home. And Georgia plays at Auburn, Tennessee and Alabama at home.

And let's not forget the SEC Championship Game in which it could be LSU against Florida or Georgia.

The last 2 years the SEC has gotten lucky. Last year USC lost to UCLA, allowing Florida to play for the title instead of Michigan. This year West Virginia and Missouri lost, allowing LSU to play for the title.

LSU and Florida both won the National Championship in this instant.

Next year that won't happen because the SEC Confernence will have their teams beat each other up to the point where no team will play for the National Championship.

Count on that.

The SEC had their teams beat each other up all year this year. And what happened LSU went to the title game. Georgia is already the SI, NO.1 for next year and they are returning all their key players from a team that was playing at a unbelievable level at the end of the year. College Football is reaching a level of parity in all conferences, where almost any team can beat their conference foes at anytime. The SEC is not the only conference that beat up on each other. Big12 ou lost to colorado and Tech, Texas always gives them a good game and K state always gives Texas trouble. The SEC had Cal, Oregon, arizona ST. and of course USC all playing at a high level and they all gave each other trouble.
Anthing can happen in college football on any saturday and to say the best conference in football wont be represented in the title game is a bold, but unlikely statement.

This year the college football season was crazy. A lot things happen that no one see coming. In the end a 2 loss team won the National Championship. Every season is different.

Therefore I feel the SEC will not have a team in the National Championship.

Georgia can't beat Florida except this year. LSU will not beat Florida in Gainesville. LSU will beat Georgia at home. LSU will lose at Auburn.

That leaves Florida with no losses. But then Florida will find a way to lose a game to the other teams on their schedule in the conference and lose in the SEC Championship Game.

In recap, Florida, LSU and Georgia will all have 2 losts. And depending on the rest of the conferences, the SEC will not be lucky.

Are you nostradamus or something. You ar declaring what WILL happen. Come on man, how do we noe this year was an abberation. Maybe college is headed for a world where undefeated is much tougher than it use to be. Also LSU is losing some key players on both sides of the ball and Geaorgia looks like they are the best team in the SEC. AS for other programs. Two of the better non sec scholls face off. Ohio state and USC play each other. Someone has to lose and that loser will help the sec teams, most likely georgia, that have a tough schedule. The fact is we don't know what will happen, but an sec team probably has the best odds of making the championship game of any conference.

Bottom Line is every season in any sport changes year to year. We don't know what to expect. I have a feeling that no SEC will play for the National Championship because they will get burn for beating each other up.

Well i think i have stated why i disagree with that statement and we shall see in time who is right.

>_<

Way too slow.

Anyways, I think next year either Georgia or Florida will go undefeated. The World's Largest Cocktail Party will have NC bearings. LSU will go down easily to both teams.

Yenno what's sad?

Reading that, and seeing you mention Oregon, it continues to remind me that Oregon most likely would've been in the NC if Dixon hadn't injured his knee.

January 10, 2008  09:18 PM ET

Oh, and since Dixon is graduating and Stewart will most likely bounce to the NFL (where I hope Seattle drafts him), Oregon's glory days are over.

The freshman that filled in for dixon was impressive in the bowl game, once they could build a game plan more suited to him.

January 10, 2008  09:20 PM ET

Another key point: it's not just about who wins or loses. It's about who the voters want to put in the game. The voters jumped LSU up three spots to put them in the game this year. They have the power to do whatever they want, and they want an SEC team in the game. So, I'd say the odds are pretty good Florida, LSU, or Georgia will be playing for the title.

Yeah, Bio: I was really hoping to see Oregon play for the title this year. Too bad it turned out the way it did.

January 10, 2008  09:21 PM ET

Yeah, nick, Oregon's performance in the bowl game bodes well for their future without DD. It looks like they'll be alright.

January 10, 2008  09:25 PM ET

Except most of that game should be lent to Stewart who bent over USF's defense because USF's defense is not meant to handle power, only speed, hence why they shut down WVU but lose to Rutgers.

georgia/ usc championship would be sweet

January 10, 2008  10:27 PM ET

There is no way both Florida and Georgia both end up with 2 losses.

And why do you keep talking about LSU? They're not going to be that great next year.

January 10, 2008  10:46 PM ET

Georgia and Oklahoma will be in the national championship game IMHO.

January 11, 2008  12:16 AM ET

Oklahoma got embarrased they have to get fixed up

January 11, 2008  11:39 AM ET

Dolphins is right. I doubt the voters would let the Sooners into a title game.

January 11, 2008  11:50 AM ET

Dolphins,

Being embarrassed in BCS games in past years has no bearing on whether the voters will put you in the Championship game or not. Ask Ohio State.

January 11, 2008  02:49 PM ET

im not one to jump on the bandwagon this early, but i think georgia is the real deal and will be deep in the mix next year,

"Being embarrassed in BCS games in past years has no bearing on whether the voters will put you in the Championship game or not. Ask Ohio State."

OSU was a logical choice though. I still say LSU should not have been in the NC game and it should have been Georgia, or Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Vs. OSU is actually a more balanced game than WVU Vs. Oklahoma. I said it all along that OU had never seen anything like WVU's speed on offense.
