I admit, Calvin Johnson was probably the best player available in the draft, but that doesn't neccesarily mean he will win rookie of the year. He does not have a very good passer, and other strong wide recievers, even, that were drafted have a better chance of winning it than him based on the talent around them. The NFL is much more of a team game than college, and he can't dominate alone. Plenty of other rookies could have good years, including JaMarcus Russell, Adrian Peterson, and Brady Quinn. They are probably the leading candidates for the award.

Calvin is as good as any a them. He so good he doesnt need perfect passes all the time. OH yea and you can count brady quinn out he wont be the rookie of the year wont even be close. He was drafted by the browns you think thats better than what calvin has to deal with and calvin is better than brady to start with. Russel has a shot just as Peterson does but calvin has the potential of being the rookie of the year. PERIOD you cant just count him out like that but brady is a different story

This year there are just way to many players in better situations than he is for him to be able to win it. Look at Marshawn Lynch, he may get the starting job in Buffalo, and that will probably make him good for at least 700+ yards. Both Michael Bush and Adrian Peterson are also good running backs with a chance at it. Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Russell don't have much talent around them, I admit, but neither did Vince Young. Who knows, one of them could turn out to win like he did, and he didn't even have that great a season. It is just way too shaky for Johnson in Detroit for him to be able to win the award.

Yea they all are good players but you said that that he will not how are you so sure. He is an outstanding football player and deserves it as much as anyone else. He the kind of guy that helps the QB's out by catching the not so perfect passes. YOU CAN'T JUST COUNT HIM OUT LIKE THAT LIKE I SAID BEFORE IF YOU WERE PAYING ATTENTION.

I understand that Calvin Johnson is a great player, but I am simply saying that it is very likely that someone else will win the award, not him. I happen to remember another reciever the Lions took a few years ago, what ever happened to him? You can't say he will win the award, just because he is the best talent-wise, because rookie of the year is usually wide open, and sometimes some of the leading candidates in the preseason don't place high in the voting. I mean, really, all you have to do is look at Marques Colston. He was drafted by the Saints in the seventh round out of Hofstra, and he almost won it last year. Rookie of the Year is just too wide open of an award, and since Johnson was not drafted in a place that will be beneficial to him, someone else who was drafted in a better place will win the award.

Your saying he didn't even have a chance you dont know that.Even if they dont win and he plays outstanding he could still get it even just by winning there division could put him up there. He could improve team alot and you cant judge even before the season starts. You dont know anything so we are preety much clueless of what could happen so as i said before YOU CANT COUNT HIM OUT LIKE THAT HE IS TO GOOD OF A PLAYER TO BE COUNTED OUT!!!!!!!!!

Definatly the best athlete in the draft but don't forget he is playing for the lions.

he can do all the work and may not get as far as he wanted but even if he plays good he could still be named rookie of the year

its either johnson or peterson, lynch has no line, brady has a line on paper, but i'll believe it when i see it, and jamarcus is going to get pounded to the ground, that 260 pounds is only gonna make him fall harder
