On average Ryan Grant will NOT be one of the top 10 running backs drafted in fantasy leagues next season. (12 man standard scoring)

Ryan Grant has exploded onto the fantasy scene. And with his playoff performance so far his draft stock will grow even higher, but he will NOT be a top 10 RB taken from the board. Ryan Grant finished 10th this year for RB's scoring in standard CBS Sportsline Leagues, so I am not going for an "easy win".

Do you think Ryan Grant is a top 10 RB in fantasy drafts? I do not!

How can he NOT be?

The guy didn't even start, barely even got a CARRY, until what, week 9? And as you said, he STILL finished 10th among running backs in scoring! In half of a season! In the second half of this year, he was better than any other back except LT. COnsidering that was really his first time playing... Wow!

I mean, look at this guy. He has speed and strength, and he runs with a passion. Since becoming Green Bay's starter at running back, he has torn up the NFL.

Who are you gonna take over him? LT, AD, and... who?

Look at his numbers:
- 929 yards in 10 starts, which figures to a great 92.9 yards per game average, second in the NFL to only Adrian Peterson.
- An excellent 5.1 yards per carry.
- 8 touchdowns, good for 9th in the NFL. Again, this is in only 10 starts. His TDs per game was higher than any other back in the NFL.

He WILL be a top 10 fantasy pick at RB.

5 reasons why Ryan Grant will not be a top 10 RB pick next year

1) Ryan Grant has yet to prove he can handle the full work load over an entire season. Fantasy players want more security from their primary RB pick.

2) At this point - we do not know what the QB situation is going to be in Green Bay. Someone other than Favre and all the sudden Grant does not have as many chances to core.

3) There are 10 other RB's out there that have proven they can continue to adjust and score when teams focus on them. Ryan Grant has not done that yet. He only has 9 NFL sarts. Once teams figure him out he must prove he can adjust to that and reinvent himself.

4) Inconsistency at scoring #1 RB stats week in and week out. He has a huge week than he has a sub oar week then he has another huge week so on... example.
week 8 - 10
week 9 - 8
week 10 - 19
week 11 - 8
week 12 - 19
so as you can see - he has some huge weeks but inbetween only 8 point weeks. Most of his points were scored in bunches. Fantasy drafters want more consistent production from their #1 RB.

5)
LT - AD - Westbrook -Addai - Portis - Fast Wille - St. Jackson - La Johnson - McGahee - Gore - and a few more

foolish statement...he will be a top back in the nfc and probably a top 5 in the nfl next year...

January 13, 2008  01:19 PM ET

I cant think of more than 10 backs better than him

January 13, 2008  01:21 PM ET

He may just be a top 5-6 RB

January 13, 2008  01:22 PM ET

Yea I can't think of 10 either.

LT, AD, S. Jackson, J. Adaii, Westbrook, maybe Larry Johnson.

McCarthy would prefer running over passing so I think Grant barring injury will have a huge year. If he goes down pick Brandon Jackson. That kid improved a lot as the year went on.

Rivers is an idiot.

^ Nothing to do with the TD, he just through a horrible pass.

I don't know badger, Hayden might not have had possesion

Only play him on even weeks. In Weeks 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16, Grant surpassed 100 yards. In Weeks 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17, he didn't.

If he falls to me at the 10th spot in the draft, he won't fall any further than that.

That had to be the ugliest redzone score just done by the Chargers

Carson Palmer is his pic. I have no idea how Grant is getting such easy long runs, but can you name 10 backs you would take before him? Stupid throwdown.

January 13, 2008  06:35 PM ET

i did name 10 backs i would take before him... in my arguement.
