He has shown he can be a great pitcher. In his first year, he went 8-2 with a 1.81 ERA. Last year, he went 10-15 with a 4.47 ERA. But you have to remember, he plays for the Pirates. He never gets the best protection from his offense or his defense. And he is only 25 years old.
Lasota said 05/24, 09:06 AM
Okay yes, he does get good protection and you talk about his ERA? How can you go and say he has a bad ERA when if you look at his career stats, it rises each year. It doesn't fall, it rises. Granted everything else is bad, he keeps up the ERA. Yes, he is a good player.

He has only been playing for 2 years. He needs to hit his stride. And I really don't understand what you just said.
Lasota said 05/24, 09:41 AM
That is because you my friend are uneducated. Or it appears that you act uneducated. He does hit the stride. Pay more attention and you'd realize this. Also, age has nothing to do with anything. In fact, the younger the palyer the better.

He needs to gain some experience. He started out bad last year. He ended up finishing the year very strong. I'm not saying he is gonna be a superstar. You said he has NO talent before. And how dare you call me uneducated when you just spelled "player" wrong.
Lasota said 05/24, 09:52 AM
Experience isn't everything. It takes force and effort to get the job well done in this sport. And yes, see he finished the year very strong and so his success will continue sometime this year. I think the more practice he gets the better he will get. Eventually, he will become a superstar. So yes, he will gain talent if he gains anything. Talent and strength.

Other pitchers are doing fine on the Pirates. Tom Gorzelanny and Ian Snell are both very good. Gorzelanny is pitching below a 3.00 era. Duke has potential but he is not turning that potential into talent. His ERA also would not be tremendously affected by the team around him. Look at Gil Meche, who is on a sorry Royals squad. His win total is what would suffer.

The Royals have a much better offense right now. Give Duke time. He started out slow last year.
