The Packers are underrated, and will have a strong season this year.

The Packers have a chance to be a great team this year. Now that Favre has shown that he will probably stay with the Packers one or two more years, the Packers can focus on other things. They may not have had a great draft overall, but they did get some good players, like Brandon Jackson, and RB from Nebraska. The coach is now in his second year and knows the Packers organization. The fans will feel a playoff push and will be just as dedicated as they ever were. Their DL is solid, and will be able to pressure the weak QB's in the NFC North. The Bears might still win the division, but I believe they have hit their peak, and the Packers will have a strong season, maybe getting wildcard.

If the Packers got Moss, I might have thought about agreeing with you. What do classify as a "strong season"? If it is 8-8, they are not making the playoffs by having that record. They also have a much tougher schedule then last year.

The Packers have a very underrated team. What I mean by a strong season is getting second in their division, and maybe going over .500. I did not say the Packers will make the playoffs, I'm simply saying they will show improvement in their game. They will surely beat the Lions, and the Vikings are questionable this year with a new quarterback, and I think the Packers will have a good chance at winning second. If Favre stays healthy and their running game picks up, which I think it will with the combo of Vernand Morencey and the power runner out of Nebraska, Brandon Jackson, they will start to secure themselves as contenders for the division. Obviously, they probably won't win the division, but if they continue improving they could in a couple of years, and this season will start them on their way.

There are not having a strong season if they don't make the playoffs.

I disagree. A strong season is when a team shows improvement and builds for the future, while managing to win games at the same time. Now that their coach has been around the organization for more than a year, he knows the system, and has a better chance at winning games outside of the division. The Packers still have fairly good recievers, and their running back combo will be good behind a great OL. The Packers may be 3-3 after the first six games, since five are against playoff teams, but after that they have a chance at winning MAYBE 10 games, but I'm sure they could easily go .500, and be a suprise team, as they were last year. I think Aaron Rodgers may finally show this year, too, and Favre can start grooming him for future years.

They have GOOD recievers, they a need great reciever or two because Farve is old and he throws alot of INT's. If they do go 8-8, that would be their expected record. They will have a shot at the wild card, but I think the 49ers are taking that.

No way that the Packers make the playoffs.. And what are you calling a great season...

May 24, 2007  08:48 AM ET

They didnt get Moss, they get Keyshawn. The running game is filled with career backups being forced to start. The receiving core is great with Driver and Jennings. Franks is now a terrible TE. The D has some talent.

Dare I say it, but the offense will be the reason the Packers dont break beyong .500, the lack of a running game will force Brett to throw 50+ per game and we know what happens when he is forced to do so. There wont be any balance in the offense. The Pack will finish 8-8 max. Anything worse wont be a surprise.

May 24, 2007  08:49 AM ET

Oops, they "didnt" get Keyshawn. Type-o.

May 24, 2007  08:49 AM ET

I was gonna say, when did that happen?

May 24, 2007  08:55 AM ET

that division is so weak i wouldn't be surprised to see chicago fighting with green bay for last place. It is horrible to say that when you look at the lions and vikes history and what they have now, but look at what the pack have also, and look how much chi lost, i'd say its a toss up

May 24, 2007  09:43 AM ET

I agree with your sentiment, but the as much as I wish it neither the Vikings or the Packers have the means to compete with the Bears this year. Our only home is that Grossman continues his implosion.

May 24, 2007  09:53 AM ET

when cedric benson goes down with his annual injury (the guy is always getting injured) count the bears out. I'm only willing to say the bears are the cream of the division when they insert griese

this guy didn't even vote for himself.

Given that their '07 schedule includes playing the Eagles, Giants, Cowboys, Panthers, Chargers, Chiefs and Broncos not to mention the Bears, twice the Pack will have a difficult time BUT...if Favre stays healthy, the running game picks it up and the "D" stops some folks like they did the in last 4 games of '06, they can go 9-7 but everything has to fall into place for them.

STRONG SEASON is a stretch. Respectable would be more like it.

May 24, 2007  10:09 AM ET

I hate to disagree with a fellow panthers fan but Coletrain is right, the Packers are going to win 7 or 8 games and at best be wild card team. Panthers rule!!!!!!!!!!

May 24, 2007  10:57 AM ET

you guys hear the one about the wr who was an announcer during the draft and he was super excited about his team drafting a WR and he was telling the new guy how he cant wait to train him and show him how the league works...and then not even a week later said wr was cut by his team, and now he'll be spending a lot more time at the espn announce table...you guys hear that one...classic!!!

May 24, 2007  11:13 AM ET

Even if they had a 9-7 season they could still get that Wild Card. I say the win 7 to 9 games and 8 to 9 wins gets them either in or close to a Wild Card. Hopefully the NFC will pick it up this year in the win column.

May 24, 2007  12:42 PM ET

No, they have a Decent team at best 7-9

May 24, 2007  01:02 PM ET

Everbody's trying to bury the Pack's running game, got news for you Vernand Morency and Noah Herron are going to do a very good job behind what is going to be a very good O-line. Brett will throw for 30 TD's against 18 INT's, again behind a strong front line.
Linebacking corps is one of the best in the game with Barnett, Hawk and KGB.
If the Pack goes 3-3 in their first six games (5 0f the first 6 are against playoff teams) They will not only win 10 games this year, they will whoop Chi-town like they did week 17 last year and take the NFC North.
As pf10 said they are indeed under-rated, but that's good. Teams will come into Packer games expecting an easy win, we all know what happens then.

They are an underrated team, but I just didn't feel your arguement is strong enough. Relying on the offseason acquistions does not really help your cause.
