Favre will retire....

I think no he wont. Him and the packers had a great season and it ended in a bitter way so him being the competitor he is he will return another season to try makeup for their playoff loss.

Most great competitors like to leave on a good note and Brett Favre is a Great competitor.

Also the packers now have Ryan Grant that can run the ball a couple of times to give Favre a breather.

So if I'm reading you correctly, you're saying that Favre will only retire if he wins another Super Bowl? Otherwise he will always be retiring on a losing note? That just doesn't make sense. What if he doesn't get to the playoffs next season? Wouldn't that be retiring with less of a season than this year. So he'd have to come back in 2009.

Favre had a great season this year. He nearly won the MVP! And by many people's opinion, SHOULD have won the MVP. If there is a time in the last 4 season he should retire on a good note, it is right now. He played for the NFC Championship, and had an amazing season. He should step aside right now, ride off into the sunset, and start writing his Hall of Fame acceptance speech....which he'll give in five years as a first ballot selectee. He's done everything possible at the highest possible level. He has nothing left to prove.

First of all he didn't almost win MVP. It wasn't very close.

Second, his team did this good, but had the potential to do better which did leave him disappointed.

Third, this year is the best of his last four. So he should retire this year, NO... his team is young and has great potential for next year.

He should'nt retire

First, he came in second. Which means of the ENTIRE NFL, he was considered the second most deserving person for the MVP. Heck, he was THE MVP of the NFC. You say not close, but he came closer than any other person in the NFL. 53 players per team, 32 teams, means he came in second out of 1700 players.

Second, his team was the second best team in the NFC. They went to the NFC Championship. They did EXACTLY what they were expected to do.

Third, thanks for proving my point. Why wait for a bad year. Go out on top. Go out a winner. Go get your bust and jacket, and join the Hall of Fame club. You deserve it Bret. But don't listen to Witness. Its time to retire.

He did come in second. But the other man Tom Brady came in first with about 98% of the votes. To me and almost anyone, that is not a very close to winning. I guess you think 2% to 98% is close. Just to tell you they aren't.

They were expected to get to the NFC Championship, yes. But they were also expected to win the NFC Championship. Just to inform you the Giants weren't expected to win by any means.

WAIT FOR A BAD YEAR? are you serious there team is developing and getting better. They were easily Super Bowl contenders and could easily be next year. With Brett Favre's mentality he will want to win a super bowl. He will stay next year and try to do EXACTLY that.

So he came in second. Gotcha. 7000 NFL players, Farve is the ONLY player other than Brady to be considered for the MVP award, and you're going to nitpick your way to a TD victory.

And no, they were not expected to win the NFC Championship. Dallas was. And Dallas had aready beaten the Packers in the regular season. So the team that beat Dallas also beat the Packers. SHOCKER!

If he stays next year, they will not be as good, and he'll retire on a down note, rather than this year, which was a resounding success.

Favre SHOULD retire this year. Whether he will or not is a different story. There's no point arguing the "he will end it on a high note" stuff, seeing as for all any of us know, he wants to end it on a low note.

nearly won mvp?? 49 votes to 1

Report Offensive Comment

Nearly won the MVP??!?!? He only got 1 more vote than DET CB Ramzee Robinson.

Ramzee Robinson is the 2007 Mr Irrelevant. The truth is Farve only got 1 more vote than EVERYONE IN THE LEAGUE not named Tom Brady. So yeah, I guess he was close to winning the MVP. As close as everyone else in the league.

Report Offensive Comment

I'm pretty sure he came in second.

Report Offensive Comment

Remember everybloody, the topic is "Farve WILL retire", not "Farve SHOULD retire"

Not whether he should go out on a high or low note, its whether or not he will go out on THIS NOTE.

Report Offensive Comment

I'm pretty sure he came in second.
John Gruden

And the rest of the league came in A CLOSE THIRD

Report Offensive Comment

"He nearly won the MVP!"

Wow. Just wow. How could anyone possibly come to that conclusion?

Arguments of same quality, my mind is playing tug of war on what it thinks Brett will do, so it comes down to quality of information. That goes to Witness. Because John Gruden was misinformed. Tom Brady won the MVP with 49 of the 50 votes. That's not "almost" if you have 2% of the vote.
The official definition of almost is "slightly short of". 98% short isn't "slightly short of".

Gruden doesn't mean almost won MVP in the sense that Favre was close voting-wise, but that in any other year (a year in which an NFL QB doesn't break multiple records), Favre likely would have won MVP.

Guys, CCC will NEVER vote for me. He knows it, I know it, everyone knows it. He's an idiot of the highest order. I'm surprised he didn't argue the definition of "retire".

Report Offensive Comment

And, as usual, Gruden is wrong. I HAVE voted for him in the past and certainly don't vote against him just to be vindictive like he and his posse do with me.

Go ahead and whine some more Gruden. It is, after all, what you do best...

Report Offensive Comment

Were talkin about Brett Favre right? There's no way on this Earth Favre will retire with his last pass being an INT. Hes comin back

Report Offensive Comment

I DID VOTE THAT HE WOULD RETIRE!
But in all truth only he knows!

Report Offensive Comment

Where did I whine CCC? I said you never vote for me. The rest means nothing. But I don't have a posse. Unlesss of course, you want to argue the definition of posse. Oh wait, that would mean you'd have to argue with me. Something you REFUSE to do.

Report Offensive Comment

And as I've said before, TD voting shouldn't revolve around who is right or who is wrong. That's just a personal opinion, because none of us know what Favre will do. So it isn't that I'm wrong, its simply that CCC doesn't think Favre will retire.

Throwdowns should be about the quality of the argument. And in this one, Witness3 has presented a very poor argument. But don't let that interfere with your voting CCC.

MY ARGUMENTS AR POUR? haha

Report Offensive Comment

Only if he does badly .... Then he'll take his ball and go home and won't play with those guys
If he starts off good ..... Then he'll stick around and play

Personally I think he will give it another year if he stays healthy. BUT... if he gets hurt he'll retire
Vote to the left
