Monta Ellis will have a monster second half and will carry the W's the rest of the way. As I see it, New Orleans, Dallas, San Antonio, Denver, Phoenix, LA and Portland will make it (not in any order). The Warriors will beat out Denver and/or Portland for the 6th or 7th spot. They're schedule is fairly difficult for the second half of the year. C-Webb will sign with them and have a substantial contribution.

IMO, here are the 7 teams that will make it in...(not in any order)

Mavs
Spurs
Suns
Hornets
Jazz
Rockets
Lakers

That leaves Blazers, Warriors, and Nuggetts fighting for the last spot. Portland is poised, but their schedule is pretty tough down the road. But I take my chance with Portland for the following reason...

Both Nuggetts and Warriors are too volative to play well consistently. I see implosions with both teams and will miss out.

The Blazers are very young and inexperienced and will have a tough time down the stretch. The Warriors however have good playoff experience and are itching to get back. The Rockets will be without T-Mac for the majority of this season and I'm not sure that Yao can shoulder the load himself.

All the teams that Portland has beaten this year didn't seem to think the Blazers are inexperience. Here's something to think about...Portland is 14-2 in games decided by 5 points or less. I think that bolds pretty well in playoff intensities.

I hear that GS is about to sign Webber. I am glad, as this actually increases Portland's chances of making the playoffs over your team. Why? Because of the same volatility issue I mentioned in my arguments. Stay tuned...

That is a good record but does not have the same intensity as a playoff game. C-Webb will be fine. He can run Nellie-Ball and is just looking for a home. Him and Baron will feed off each other and the Warriors can always use rebounding help. The Rockets do not have a good shot at the playoffs so the warriors will be in.

Just like I know it was a mistake when NY went with Curry and Randolph, this is a mistake for GS. Time will tell...but I have my doubts.

I'm a huge Warriors fan and I will be brutally honest. The W's will miss the playoffs if the y don't make a trade before the Feb. 21st deadline and I am not talking about signing a washed up, over the hill Chirs Webber. Baron Davis is one of the top point guards in the NBA, but his health has ALWAYS been an issue. He logs about 42-44 min/game and at that rate he won't be able to be the stud we need him to be down the stretch. I like the way Portland is playing and Nate McMillan gets my vote for coach of the year. He is doing a great job and they are buying into his philosophy.

C-Webb will not be able to run the court with the other warriors.... The Lakers will struggle while Bynum is on the pine. If the Lakers can swing a trade and get either Gasol or Wallace for Kwame and Vlad

I love a chance to talk about Portland. Blazers are doing more than just riding momentum now. They are here to stay. They own the tiebreaker against Utah and are up 2-1 on Denver so far. They play better defense than GS and operate better in close games than just about anyone. I keep saying it: Warriors were more lucky than good last year. They are too streaky and inconsistent, and Webber is just an attempt to look like they are doing something about it.

Any of 11 teams can make the playoffs in the West and yes, any of those 11 teams (even, gasp, the Spurs) might miss them. But Odenator has at least taken the time to upload a photo for an avatar, so he will get my vote.

Thugmeister, whatever it takes to get a vote. =)

Gotta take the Blazers with this one. The Warriors have been wildly inconsistent this season and what little chemistry they may have had will be broken by the signing of Webber.
