arguments 2nd and 3rd

C- Victor Martinez
1B- Carlos Pena
2B- Placido Polanco
SS- Derek Jeter
3B- A-rod
LF- Carl Crawford
CF- Grady Sizemore

Congrats, you merely chose the players with the best statlines last year.

C- Victor Martinez
1B- Carlos Pena (AL has a considerable weak 1B class)
2B- B.J Upton* ( 300 avg/ 25 hr/ 25 sb in just 129 games...lets see what he can do in an entire season)
SS- Edgar Rentaria*
3B- Alex Rodriguez
LF- Carl Crawford
CF- Ichiro Suzuki*
RF- Magglio Ordonez

based on last season

SS- Edgar Rentaria*

All A.L. team

Are you seeing a problem here? Renteria played in the NL so I obviously win that.

"( 300 avg/ 25 hr/ 25 sb in just 129 games...lets see what he can do in an entire season) "

First, I said based on LAST season, second thats an argument.

If you accept a TD can you at LEAST follow the rules?

Polanco had 200 hits, he hit .341 had 9 homers and 67 RBIs and he only struck out 6.8% of the time.

BJ Upton hit .300 with 24 homers and 82 RBIs. He struck out 37.2% of the time which is much worse.

The biggest thing that seperates these two is defense. Polanco played the whole season and had NO erroirs. That is amazing.

Upton only had 22 steals so you lied about his stats too.

Did I mention UPTON IS A CF? He played 78 games at CF and 48 at second. Making his prime position CF. Plus next year he will be the CF all year.

He had 12 errors at second base in 48 games. THAT is embarassing. In 139, Plac had 0.

Ichiro and Sizemore next

I used LAST YEARS STATS on now-AL players. You never said anything about not using players that changed leagues, and seeing that, lets compare Rentaria vs. Jeter (keep in mind the potency of the yankees lineup vs the braves lineup from last year)

Rentaria- 332 AVG/ 12 HR/ 57 RBI/ 11 SB caught twice / 77 SO/ 390 OBP/ 470 SLG
Jeter- 322 AVG/ 12 HR/ 73 RBI/ 15 SB caught eight times/ 100 SO/ 388 OBP/ 452 SLG

Rentaria his a higher OBP, SLG, AVG, same amount of homeruns, a better stealing percentage. The only edge Jeter gets is in RBIs, where he was is a stacked lineup the entire year

Upton- 300 AVG/ 24 HR/ 82 RBI/ 22 steals caught eight times/ 388 OBP/ 508 SLG
Palanco- 341 AVG/ 7 HR/ 67 RBI/ 7 steals caught three times/ 388 OBP/ 458 SLG

Palanco has a better average, but Upton's AVG sure isnt shabby by any means. Upton has more power with more HR and RBI (on a worse team), that is faster (better steal %), the same OBP and a higher SLG%

In a full season Upton would average 300 avg/ 30 hr/ 103 rbi/28 steals

thats an amazing statline, something i would take over palancos extra 30 points or so on his AVG

Ichiro/Grady next :)

Alright...here we go

Ichiro/Sizemore

Batting AVG- 351/277
OBP- 396/390
Steals- 37 caught 8 times/ 33 caught 10 times (Ichiro stole MORE bases while getting thrown out LESS)
Hits- 238/174 (60 more hits)
Strikeouts- 77/155 (80 less strikeouts)

Both are great defensive outfielders, however Ichiro is widely touted as having one of the best arms in the game.

"Congrats, you merely chose the players with the best statlines last year. "

No he didnt. Even if he did, why point that out. You are trying to gain votes.

February 5, 2008  05:21 PM ET

dh?

February 5, 2008  05:22 PM ET

Yeah, he did. Outside of Grady who is way overrated every position player he chose had roughly the best stats

February 5, 2008  05:26 PM ET

he didnt put it so i didnt

Upton struck out 154 times last year in 129 games, that's brutal. Leaning left, but I will wait for further arguments to vote...

February 5, 2008  05:32 PM ET

It said based on last season(hitters) on your throwdown argument.

Upton also walked 65 times in 129 times while Polanco only walked 37 times. He also can hit for power unlike Polanco.

I think everyone has fallen on their head....Carlos Pena...a guy who has one fluke year after not being able to retain a job over his MANY stops...and who actually couldn't even make the RAYS out of spring training....losing to Norton for goodness sakes...

WHY, or WHY do people insist on living in the moment...sorry, but I just can't vote...

OH...Now I totally get it...so sorry, you were ONLY basing it on last year's stats...

I figured that out before you yelled at me...again, sorry
