The Patriots came close to joining the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only teams to go the the whole season perfect. But the Patriots did not get the job done as they lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

They came closest to going perfect the entired season.

But I don't see another NFL team going undefeated like the 72 Dolphins.

One reason is it is a salary cap era where every team has a chance to win a Super Bowl.

Another thing is the pressure grows with every win.

THe Patriots look like they were going to do it. But just when they got closer to it, they stumble at the worse time, and now people will not remember them going 16-0 in the regular season beacuse they lost in the Super Bowl.

I feel that no NFL will never go undefeated ever again.

lets think about what weve witnessed this year. the patriots signed 3 big-time free agents in moss, welker, and adalius thomas, and a decent one in stallworth , and all of a sudden they're going 16-0. its true that they lost in the super bowl, and some of the arguments that you make are valid. yes, pressure grows with every win, and yes, the salary cap makes it very difficult to assemble a large group of great players that have chemistry because everyone wants to get a payday. heres my argument; if the patriots, with the obvious holes in their roster, which included an aging linebacking core, a defensive tackle that seemed to be unable to play cleanly in vince wilfork, and a running game that didnt do much all year despite the fact that the patriots had an absolutely spectacular passing game. THIS TEAM went 16-0.

so based on that, can you honestly say that it isnt possible for another team to go undefeated? i dont believe you can make an absolute statement like that, based on what weve seen this year. before this season, i wouldve agreed with you. but after this season, theres just no way you can make that claim.

The Patriots didn't finish the job. Yes they went 16-0 in the regular season, but when they had a chance to go 19-0, the Patriots fell short. I can tell you they will not go 16-0 next year because some of the games they won in 2007, they could have easly lost. Can you tell me the Patriots or any NFL team will go undefeated next year? I doubt it.

"no nfl team will ever go undefeated ever again"

thats the throwdown, my friend. maybe it wont happen next year, maybe it wont happen in 10 years. but it will happen eventually, and you have no concrete evidence thats suggests the contrary.

In a league with a salary cap, where every team has a chance and things change year ot year, it hard for a team to go undefeated for the entired season. Everything has to break right for a team to go undefeated. The Patriots had a number of games where they could have easly cold have lost. The Colts game where the Colts had a 10 point lead. The Eagles game at home. The Ravens game on the road on a Monday night. The Patriots seen to not play at the same level like they did at the beginning of the season. THe Patriots almost went undefeated, but couldn't get the job done. Therefore I feel no one will ever go undefeated ever again because the pressure mounts after each game.

"No NFL team will ever go undefeated ever again."

Bit redundant, don't you think?

Never is an awfully long time...

welker and moss were not free agents, they traded for them. I realize that may not matter to some but, their is a difference between lucking out on two trades and signing two free agents.

It's going to happen eventually. It may take a 1000 years, but it'll still happen.

As a mod shouldn't you refrain from voting anyhow, Krobe? Just curious, but it seems you should be a neutral observer not a participant taking one side or the other. Perhaps I'm wrong.
