we have two differences, green and jovanoski; brodeur and bryzgalov

Green vs. Jovanoski - The 23 year old Green has just reached his stride, and leads the league for defensemen in goals with 17. He is a big, physical defencemen who can play the powerplay and breaks an even plus/minus on a non-playoff team, and should be a star for years to come. On the other hand, we have a aging Jovanoski who has probably reached his peak. He has a respectable 11 goals, that doesn't even come close to matching Greens 17, and has a plus/minus of -7. So, who do you take, do you take the young up-and-comer who is just reaching his prime and catching his stride, or the aging, past his prime Ed Jovanoski who might give you another year or too.

Brodeur vs. Bryzgalov - This isn't even a comparison. We have the 3x Cup winning, possibly best goaltender of all-time, vs. a goaltender who was the 3rd string goalie in Anaheim and was waived. Ilja has 4 career shutouts, while Brodeur has 22 PLAYOFF shutouts, and has 96 career wise. He has had streaks without giving up a goal in 3+ games, nevermind 4 CAREER shutouts.

back to the Brodeur and Bryzgalov. I have no clue how you can even suggest that Bryzgalov is better at his best point in his career and Brodeur at his worst. Brodeur has started and played in about 50 more PLAYOFF games then Bryzgalov has played i his career, season wise. Brodeur is a 3x Stanley Cup champion and a Conn Smythe winner. Many say that he is the ONLY reason they got that far, and he has been the most valuable player to his team the last 15 years.

This year is a prime example. No one expected the Devils to be near the top of the Eastern Conference, and yet, there they are and mainly due to the stellar play of Brodeur. As a matter of fact, many expected them to miss the playoffs for the first time in 11 years due the the fact that they lost there best, and really only defensemen worth noting in Brian Rafalski, and there best forward in Scott Gomez to free agency

Jovanoski may not have the numbers this year as green but what he brings to the ice in his presence and experience and defensive knowledge is beyond the stats. I would rather have that in a defensemen since you already have AO, Sid and Malkin to do your scoring for you. As far as goalies.. Since Roy retired, Brodeur would be the best and most dependable choice! But since there are no arguements on the right, voted left.

Bryzgalov is a fine goalie, but he really shouldn't even be uttered in the same sentence as a legend like Brodeur.
