Despite a dissappointing first game in the ship, Lebron is head and shoulders above any other player in the NBA. Both his physical attributes and mental toughness take him to another level only rivaled by past greats.

I don't think that Lebron James is necessarily the best player in the NBA. Don't get me wrong, I think that he will be someday, but really, there are many better than him right now. He's only 22, so it's not like he isn't going to get even better. Tim Duncan has been a leader for a team that has won four championships in the last ten years, and another Texas man, Dirk Novitzki, just won an MVP this year, and made it to the finals last year. Steve Nash is one of the best assist-men ever, he has won back-to-back MVP's, and would have made the conference championship for the second year in a row had he not had to play the Spurs. Kobe Bryant is breaking scoring records all over the place, and Dwayne Wade is also up there. Lebron James will be the best someday, but right now there are too many other greats out there to say he is the best.

Come on, sure all those guys are great players in their own right, but like an MJ or Magic, the way Lebron is a man among boys is so unique. That cannot be said for a guy like Tim Duncan or Dirk. Sure Dwayne Wade had a good run and is a great player but hes not on Lebrons level. The way Lebron takes a mediocre team (the 2nd best player being some slob from Lithiania) is just so Jordan-esque, before Scottie. Just watching Lebron beat teams in so many more ways than one, is simply remarkable.

True, he is a very versatile player, but he is not quite the leader that some of these guys with championships are at this point. Tim Duncan is arguably the best power forward in history, and Steve Nash also has to be ranked high all-time when considering players at his position. Dirk Novitzki has come into the league and led the Mavericks to a couple division titles, an MVP himself, and a trip to the NBA finals. Kobe Bryant scores 30 about twice a week, and is just so exciting to watch on the court. Although he may not be a leader, he is a great player, and also has a couple of championships, too. I think at this point Lebron has just not done enough compared to these other players to be considered the best.

At this point in his career, wit the exception of Tim Duncan, Lebron has exceeded all thee acheivments of the others you mentioned. Yeah Nash has a couple MVP's, but hes never reached the big game, with a much better team then the Cavs. Dirk and Kobe are arguably two of the greatest scorers to ever play the game but player, not even close. Then it leaves Tim Duncan...yes he is one of the greatest players of all time, but dont oversee the great teams he has been apart of. In 1999 when they won it, David Robinson was a big part of that team, and now the emergence of Parker and Ginobli, the Spurs are a good team. Its so hard to call one player the best, but I mean as versatile as Lebron is, Averaging 26 points, 7 Rebs and 6 Assists for his 4 years in the league is pretty good and can only improve....

Lebron James has not won a championship, MVP, or scoring title in his career. Like I said, he is a good leader, but he's still only 22, so it's kind of hard for him to be a great leader, with a lot of older players on his team. He will be the best someday, but he's not at this point in his career.

Tim Duncan wasn't a man among boys? Ok... except the fact that he was great from the moment he stepped onto the floor.

You are all just caught up in the LeBron playoff hype. Sure, he's had an amazing last bunch of playoff games, but we're all just blowing up because of it. This guy hasn't done enough to the best in the league. Both of you guys haven't really put together much of an argument.

Lebron has potential to be the best, and if I was drafting a team he would be my first pick for a ten year franchise, but if it was a one year franchise my choice would be Duncan.

Nash took a team of nobodys the last few years and did something pretty special wtih them. I'll wait a few more years to decide on Lebron.

Lets see if Lebron can carry the Cavs out of an 0-2 hole, if he does, then he most certainly is the best.
