TDAholics Tourney redo: Best non-allstar team devised with non-allstars from the 07-8 season (NBA)

Well, let me write my team first.

PG: Deron Williams
SG: Michael Redd
SF: Hedo Turkoglu
PF: Al Jefferson
C: Chris Kaman

Nothing to really argue against...

I agree with Deron Williams at point guard he is putting together a solid year.

SG: Ill take Tracy McGrady, he is averaging one less ppg but 2 more assist per game and almost 1 more rebound per game than Michael Redd and he also has the Rockets in great shape for the Western Conference playoffs while the Bucks are again at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

SF: Hedo is having a great year, but Ill take Andre Iguodala, their stats are pretty similar but Iggy has been doing it with nobody around him while Hedo has Dwight Howard to take some pressure off of him.

PF: No doubt Al Jefferson, I agree their.

C: Marcus Camby has had an amazing career and is having a great season. He is an absolute beast on the defensive end and is among the best defenders in the league. He is averaging 9.5 ppg and 13.5 rpg along with 4 bpg, that is ridiculous.

More to come later, good luck.

Redd vs. McGrady:

Let's compare stats. Redd first:

PPG: 23.3 vs. 21.9 (Redd)
RPG: 4.5 vs. 5.1 (T-Mac)
APG: 3.6 vs. 5.7 (T-Mac)
FG%: 44.7 vs. 43.3 (Redd)
FT%: 82.6 vs. 67.6 (Redd)
3PT%: 36.6 vs. 31.1 (Redd)

Overall Redd wins 4-2. Redd does the little things, which makes him IMO a better player. Let's not forget that everyone was surprised at Redd's play during the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship. Oh yeah, the U.S. won.

Hedo vs. Iggy

Let's compare stats again. Hedo first:

PPG: 19.9 vs. 19.8 (Virtual Tie, but it's Hedo)
RPG: 5.9 vs. 5.4 (Hedo)
APG: 4.9 vs. 4.6 (Hedo)
FG%: 45.4 vs. 45.3 (Another Virtual Tie, but it's Hedo)
FT%: 83.4 vs. 73.8 (Hedo)
3PT%: 40.7 vs. 32.8 (Hedo)

CLEAN SWEEP! The lack of supporting cast just gives Iggy a better opportunity to pad his stats...he's done that, but he's still behind Hedo in all the categories. Not to mention that Hedo has 2 other potential All-Stars on his team, and he still has better stats.

Running out of room, will argue for Cs in nect argument.

Redd is a great player and is known for his 3 point shooting while Tmac is not, which is why he has a higher 3pt%. McGrady is a better player if you look at the career numbers his is much higher overall then Redd's. The Rockets have often said that Yao was their number 1 option and since he has been out TMac has stepped up. Injuries have also limited TMac yet he still finds ways to put up huge numbers while leading his team to a great win streak and a high seed in the west. Oh and the 2007 FIBA Championships mean nothing for NBA games.

How can you call the stats a virtual tie and then give it to your player, it is either a tie or it isn't. Hedo has Dwight Howard on his team, a player that is completely dominating and commands double teams every time he touches the ball which leaves only one person to guard Hedo, while Iggy is the sixers main threat and has their teams best defenders running at him night in and night out. This makes it harder to "pad his stats".

I don't have enough room to put what I want to say about the centers here so I will say that next.

T-Mac isn't even the #1 option on his own team! Redd is a proven scorer, and even though he shoots more than he drives he still has a pretty good percentage. Redd played with the best of the best in the NBA on that FIBA Americas Team. Yet, he was still considered the 2nd or 3rd best there!

A virtual tie means it's close to a tie, but it isn't...that's why they both went to Hedo.

Hedo is the all-around better player. He can shoot the ball, and drive, and he can dish dimes and grab boards.

Marcus Camby is a great player, but Chris Kaman is coming into his own this season. Chris Kaman is among the top in rebounding and his scoring way up. He should've been voted in as a reserve. Marcus Camby isn't even in the top 2 players on his team!

Tmac isn't the number 1 option on his team because he doesn't want to be, they have Yao(before he got hurt), a scoring center is important for some teams because they are pretty rare. So if you have a guy who can be dominate down low and give the team a higher scoring chance of course he is the teams first option. McGrady would still be a number 1 option on a lot of other teams.

"Hedo is the all-around better player. He can shoot the ball, and drive, and he can dish dimes and grab boards."
The only thing that Hedo can do better than Iggy is shoot the ball, he is more of a slasher and relies on getting to the rim while Hedo is a much better shooter. The career stats show that Hedo is having his best year with other decent years while Iggy is having just another year for him.

Your right Camby isn't even one of the two best players on his team but that is because the two best players are AI and Carmello Anthony two of the best players in the league. Kaman would not be one of the two best players on the Nuggets either. Sure Kaman might be a better scorer but Camby is a much better defender and he doesn't have to score more than the 9ppg he is averaging for the nuggets to win.

Only four from mine this time.
