Tim Tebow will win a second Heisman this year - there is no one in the NCAA that can take the trophy from him -
1st - he plays in the toughest confence in college football - The SEC
2nd - he is only going to get better as a passer as he matures - proven last season; taking away the critics' bashing of how he was not an effective passer
3rd - his committment to excellence and drive to win only feeds into the rest of the Florida Gator football program
4th - Coach Meyer will not let him fail!! Coach Meyer will only set Tim Tebow up for success
5th - Did I mention he plays in the toughest conference in college football?? The MIGHTY SEC!!
Throwdown with any candidate - good luck - Go GATORS!!!

Tim Tebow will not win a 2nd consecutive heisman. That just isnt done in Modern ball.
1. He plays in the SEC, not offensively the best conference but definately a step ahead on the defensive side of the ball.
2. Its not about maturation. He plays in a specifically designed gimmick offense. Not to mention a gimmick offense that the best (collectively) group of Defensive coordinators in the nation have a full season of film on now.
It is very simple. Play strict zone. Stay at home. Very strict Zone. Dont Miss Tackles. Florida has no offense. Strict Zone. Stay at home on the edges and over the top.
Tebow cant throw in the midrange b/c the offensive system wont allow him to set feet/ square/ and pass mechanically.
Sure they can beat up on weak opponents. Last year we saw Mississippi, Auburn, Ga, LSU, and MIchigan halt their offense by simply playing strict zone. Not giving up the big plays. This year we will see the rest of the SEC join them.
My take for heisman? Way too early to tell but it wont be Tebow.
I will take Stafford or Colt
Barton said 03/25, 11:24 AM
I know its awfully early...but Tebow right now has to be the front runner...he is the man to beat. Unitl the others out perform him and take the limelight away from him, he will be the center of attention for the "Heisman Hype."
Frank Pentangelli is READY said 03/25, 12:27 PM
Only 1 person has ever won back to back. That alone makes him NOT the frontrunner.
The Gators are going to struggle offensively against the top tier SEC opponents. Game Film of an offense you havent seen much of means a lot. 4 of the SEC Powers were able to slow them last year. Now with a full season of film it will get easier and easier.
If there had been a consensus #1, or a "stat star" on a 1 or 2 loss team last season Tebow would not have gotten the first heisman.
I see Florida being a 4 loss team and I dont see another heisman winner coming from a 4 loss team.
Barton said 03/25, 01:25 PM
I think Florida's offense is going to be a little more potent this year than last. Stronger backfield - still have Harvin - Looking at the schedule for the 2008 season all of their crucial games are going to be played at the Swamp with the exception of the Georgia game - this is the one hiccup I see for Florida...the Dawgs of Georgia....can't wait to see the game!!!
Frank Pentangelli is READY said 03/26, 09:58 AM
What good does a running back do when you dont use one? Tebow will get 60% of the carries, Harvin 30%, and the transfer from USC will simply regret his decision.
Seems to me you are leaving out a critical trip to Knoxville. Not to mention that you can lose to any team in the SEC on any given Saturday.
Georgia is going to slaughter Florida again. No doubt about that.
Tebow wont win 2 in a row. Will he start with the media hype? Sure. When they get their 4th loss will it die? Sure.

Barton | 03/25/08, 11:29 AM
Report Offensive CommentA stronger backfield will help the overall offense, but take away some of the TDs and yards that made his Heisman year so unique. He will have to outshine everyone else by a mile for them to warrant giving it to the same person two years in a row.
Frank has the better arguments as to why Tebow won't win again, but doesn't support it with someone who can beat Tebow and and why.

Fair enough, Frank... I can get dense sometimes. Though it was my WIFE & not MYSELF who was the English major ;-)
As for this throwdown, good argumentation & it looks like you both DID have fun with this. Frank had the better arguments as to why Tebow would NOT win the 2008 Heisman... and I think that other points need to be addressed:
Tebow will NOT get the carries he did last season. W/a new corps of running backs next season, Tebow will be forced to do more w/his arm... he will have to take the leap toward Dixon-like spread-option play, beating teams w/his legs AND his arm, if he is to repeat... & I don't see him making THAT leap unless he stays two more years...
