The Padres have proven to be the top team in the NL west this year and have been that way for the past three seasons. They are unstoppable this season and will win the division.
Coletrain said 06/15, 01:34 PM
They are not unstoppable. They are good, but not that good. The Dodgers are winning it. They have a better pitching rotation and the dodgers have wayyyy better offense. The Padres are hitting .245. The Dodgers are hitting .261. The Padres do have the lowest ERA in baseball, but that might not last considering they have 2 very old starters in Maddux and Wells. Hoffman is 39 so he is getting old too. They fact that they have won the past few years doesn't mean anything this season.
Willie Mays Hays said 06/15, 02:45 PM
Age means nothing in baseball. History shows that. Maddux is 5-3 with a 3.86 ERA. He may be 41 years old but he is still consistent. The Dodgers are 4-5 against the Padres this year and their "wayyyy better offense" has yet to beat Jake Peavy or Greg Maddux. The Dodgers do have a strong rotation...but not as strong as the Padres. You said it yourself that the Padres have the lowest ERA in baseball and, as we all know, when you can't score runs you can't win.
Coletrain said 06/15, 02:50 PM
Maddux started great last year but then after the first couple of months he started struggling really bad. You can't blame the Dodgers for losing to Peavy because everyone has been losing to Peavy. And the Dodgers have a bullpen that is right up there with the Padres pen. And age does matter.
Willie Mays Hays said 06/15, 03:03 PM
The Dodgers and the Padres are quite possibly the two most alike teams in baseball. They have put up almost the exact same numbers throughout the past three years. Both teams can beat every team in the division but the Dodgers can't outmatch the Padres. Until they do so, they will NOT win the NL West.

the Dodger have such a great offense that they felt like they didn't need a hitting coach anymore!

It's a long season.... And old arms become Tired Arms! I agree with Coletrain. Look at how LA's offense awoke the second half last year.. I don't think that SD can rely only on Peavy to take them to the promised land. I think LA's gonna have the edge coming out of the All Star Break... watch and see!

Please Lord, anyone but the Padres. The rest of the country would like to watch a team in the playoffs that is more interesting than just 1 pitcher....

The Padres have no offense. I know their pitching is good, but something isn't adding up -- they shouldn't be 10 games above .500.
