The Falcons should not draft a QB prospect this year.

They just have more issues that deserve more attention. The Falcons do not have the situation stable enough to insert a young QB. And teams who are not ready and take a QB they have to start right away usually end up badly and the team ends up losing ( ask Texan fans they know). When you are rebuilding a team QB should be the last thing on your list, because a QB put in a hectic situation like atlanta it ends up ruining their career.

They need a talented QB to lead this team. One way they are going to fix a lot of there problems is if they draft a reliable QB that doesn't suck (Joey Harrington), get injured (Bryan Leftwich), or gets jailed (Michael Vick).

They Falcons would solve some problems, and win more games with a talented, young QB prospect.

They have a good RB in Michael Turner, all they need to do is improve the WR position, and get a good QB, and they should do a little better than last year. OLine and defense needs to improve to be a good team again.

If they get a good QB that is young, AND GOOD (unlike Carr was), then Falcons can do well.

QBs can do well in Atlanta. He doesn't have to throw much, and they have other picks in the drafts, which they will be able to draft some O-Line players.

Well Chris Redman showed talent at the end of last year. And like I said they need to get situated in all positions before they draft a franchise QB. And David Carr had talent coming out of college, but he wen't to the Texans who had crap on a stick in terms of receiving and their O-line was desperatly pathetic ( sound like a team we know). The Falcons just need to get talent this year let it develop well and maybe in a season or 2 draft a franchise QB like Todd Reesing, Chase Daniel, Matt Staford, or Juice Williams the likely QB crop coming out next year in the draft.

Plus with there wretched receiving corps and lack of an O-line any attempt at drafting a franchise QB will fail.

They have an O-Line to protect a running QB. They could get Matt Ryan, but there are other choices out there. Josh Johnson (San Diego kid), he is an option that they can draft.

As you could see last year, David Carr also sucked with the Carolina Panthers. It doesn't matter if someone is good coming out of college. Look at what happened to Ryan Leaf. He had talent coming out of college, and poof, he came into the NFL and he completely sucked.

What I'm saying there is David Carr wasn't good enough for an NFL QB. The Falcons have nothing else to lose, so they should draft a QB prospect. Another reason is that they have decent receivers and an above average TE so they need a good QB to help out with that. Plus, a good QB would improve the WRs and TEs (example:Tom Brady)

Why should the Falcons wait until next year? They need a QB this year. If they got a QB this year, they could go after other positions. Draft a QB prospect in the 2nd or 3rd and then in the 1st round, draft a different position that they need help with. They could get Dorsey, Gholston, or Long in the first round, and get a good prospect QB in the 2nd or 3rd, or even 4th round.

The falcons have much greater needs to adress. And without a setup suitable for raising a good QB then they will strugle longer than they should

The Falcons need a QB. You are acting like they only have one pick. The draft is 7 ROUNDS! They have more than 1 pick. They have picks that they will be able to use.

As I said in my last paragraph of my 2nd argument, they can go after a big need of theirs, then with a 2nd or 3rd round pick, depending on where Josh Johnson is still available (top QB available) or another reliable QB (Joe Flacco), the Falcons should draft him. That will help out the team a lot.

The Falcons need to draft a top QB prospect.

The Falcons just plain suck. Drafting anyone is an improvement from what they have.

April 22, 2008  10:29 PM ET

I agree FaVre CLuBBiN' CuBBiEs, the Falcons do suck, but they need to draft a good QB like Matt Ryan.

I'll get to this tomorrow.

April 22, 2008  10:33 PM ET

IMO I don't think Matt Ryan will be that good. I think if they could find a way to trade down to get Ryan it wouldn't be bad, but I don't think they can take the risk with Ryan. Especially since there are 2 better players on the board who I think will make more of an immediate impact than Ryan (Dorsey and C. Long). But I will wait for further arguments to vote.

They should go for that QB from the University of San Diego. I forget his name. He would be a mobile QB which their line is designed to protect.

April 22, 2008  11:19 PM ET

Todd Reesing? If the Falcons draft him as their franchise QB then they're going to have some major problems.

cowace2 | 04/22/08, 11:19 PM

why? just because he's short doesn't make him bad. Drew Brees is about the same size, and he's not bad is he?

April 22, 2008  11:40 PM ET

Is TOddd Reesing even in this years draft. i thought he was a Junior or SOphmore last year and he is not good enough to leave early.

April 22, 2008  11:44 PM ET

No he will probably be in next years draft maybe if you actually read the arguments you would know that i said last year

April 23, 2008  01:39 AM ET

They are better off improving their defense! I don't care what type of talent you got on offese if you can't stop the other team you aint got a snowballs chance in hell. Look at the Bengals, a lot of weapones on offense but defense is awful. If they draft Ryan it will take a few years to develop into a top QB's. Drafting the best doesn't always mean getting the best, Brady for example, drafted in the 6th round I believe and look at what he has done!

April 23, 2008  01:58 AM ET

I Hate Michael Vick

April 23, 2008  07:40 AM ET

If they draft a QB they should at least sit him and let him be mentored by the great Joey Harrington

April 23, 2008  09:58 AM ET

Is greatness measured in lameness? Then Joey is by far the greatest QB of all time.
