Last week, a report came out by Ken Rosenthal of foxsports.com, and in this report he listed three managers in the MLB that are on the hot seat. Out of the three managers in this report(Listed below), which do you think will be the first to get fired?

Ron Washington - Texas
John Gibbons - Toronto
Willie Randolph - Mets

I say Ron Washington. Yes the Jays are in last, but only because of quick starts by Baltimore and Tampa. As the season progresses they will slide off, and Toronto will finish third again in the division, so the Jays need to stick with Gibbons and play through the tough times, they actually arent that bad with a record of 15-17 and a 4-game win streak.

Willie Randolph is commanding a Mets team that wass off to a slow start but is coming on strong. Florida is dropping off in that division, and the Mets are only half a game back from first.

Ron Washington however, is coaching a team that (at least here in Texas) was predicted to do well, getting younger at pitching and hitting. Well, a 13-19 start with losing streaks of 5 and 9 games so far, has hurt the chances of Texas.

Im out of space, but my thoughts on RW arent completed yet.

I'm gonna say John Gibbons of the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays have a ton of talent. Vernon Wells, Alex Rios, Scott Rolen, David Eckstein, Lyle Overbay, Aaron Hill and one of the best rotations in baseball containing Roy Halladay, AJ Burnett, Dustin McGowen, Shaun Marcum, and Jesse Litsch. They're a team that is trying to win right now. The start that they have had is unacceptable for this franchise. They're in a tough division that should actually only get better down the stretch. I agree the O's will fall, but the Yankees and Red Sox will no doubt pick it up as the weather gets warmer and the Rays are starting to be for real. Add the fact that Gibbons has gotten into fights with players before (Shea Hillenbrand, Ted Lilly).

It's a different spot in Texas. The Rangers realize that they aren't that good now, hence why there is talk of them being sellers at the trade deadline. They must know that it's not Washington's fault the starting rotation is a black hole and management has done a horrendous job with keeping the right talent. Washington is a great influence in the clubhouse and the Rangers know that, which is why they hired him in the first place.

Out of room. Cont.

Rangers also have a ton of talent: David Murphy, Josh Hamilton, Gerald Laird, Michael Young, Kayson Gabbard. I agree the pitching has black holes in it. Outside of Gabbard, no one can really pitch. But the closer CJ Wilson is outstanding, when they can get to him. The Rangers have a ton of bright spots and even though I agree about management doing a horrendous job keeping the right talent, all too often that kind of stuff ends up being on the coach's shoulders and he is the one that takes the fall.

The Blue Jays have a chance to finish seocnd in that division with all that talent. The Yanks are banged up and even though its early, the Jays have the POTENTIAL. Im not saying they will finish second but they have the ability to. So really, Gibbons regardless of the fights and squabbles is in a better position with that team than Ron Washington is, even if Washington is not at fault for the Rangers troubles.

Washington may be a good clubhouse infuence, but thats it. And thats why Randolph is on the hot seat. Both are softies, and dont coach with passion. Gibbons may fight with players, but so does Sweet Lou, and he has been successful.

Out of space. More to come

I agree the Rangers have some talent, but nowhere close to the potential of the Blue Jays. I mean seriously, look at the starting rotation for the Rangers. It's pretty ugly. And the offense is far too inconsistent. Firing Washington now would actually hurt this team because he's a player manager. No one is complaining about Washington. I realize the manager is always the one that takes the fall but the Rangers aren't as big as a disappointment as the Blue Jays. Some people had the Blue Jays finishing 2nd in the AL East. I know it's early, but they have more problems then they should it seems.

Gibbons has already taken criticism this season about leaving Halladay in the games too long and putting him in for too many innings. This is a guy who's a fantastic pitcher, but he's had injury issues in the past. He's already pitched 57 innings this year and it's only May 5th. With all the money the Blue Jays have spent, it's still not translating into real success for the franchise. On paper, this team looks good. But I think they need a new guy at the helm and I think they are starting to think that too. The Blue Jays need a change to the mindset of the team.

57 innings in 6 or 7 starts equates to roughly 8 innings. I agree thats too long, especialy with this day and age of the pitch count meaning more. But Gibbons is not the only manager who makes mistakes. Gabbard, Jennings, and Nippert all went down with injuries because Washington was overworking them as well.

And I still have the Jays finishing 2nd in he East. It is still early and with 4 straight wins, the Blue Jays might be coming together. I agree spending money should translate into success, but its not solely the manager's fault. The players play the games, NOT the manager. he does strategize about when to switch pitchers and pinch-hit and stuff like that, but for the mst part, if a player doesnt execute for one reason or another and a team loses, the manager takes the heat when its not necessarily his fault.

Gibbons is guilty of what every other manager is guilty of: doing whatever it takes to win. And there is nothing wrong with that.

The problem with Washington is he CANT win, because he doesnt know how.

"Gabbard, Jennings, and Nippert all went down with injuries because Washington was overworking them as well."

That may be so, but Washington has a good excuse if that's true. Who else is he gonna put in? The state of pitching on the Rangers is terrible so he doesn't have many options if he wants to win many games. With Halladay, he's the ace of your staff and the Blue Jays have a very good bullpen. It doesn't make sense to work your ace who's had past injuries so much for the first month of the season.

Gibbons has far more talent to work with and management has done a MUCH better job putting a team together than the Rangers have. The Blue Jays have spent money and brought guys in to try and win now desperately. They have at times come so close but never could get over the hump of the Yanks and Sox. Now the team has gotten off to a bad start and something needs to be done. Maybe this team needs personality. Maybe they need a good kick in the butt. The culture of the team needs to change. The Blue Jays have potential to win, the Rangers do not. There's nothing Washington can do about that.

I think Gibbons is going.

It's simple for me...

The Rangers arent anywhere near winning their division or making the post season right now. Firing Washington would be foolish. The man has only been with them since 2007. They're not trying to win RIGHT NOW like the Blue Jays, who actually have the pieces to do so. Keep Washington, let the team gradually get better and better, and in a few years be a contender. Taking away Washington would hurt their developmental process. Gibbons on the other hand, has been in Toronto for four years, and right now has loads of talent that is being wasted. In my mind, I'd let Gibbons finish the year, look at your results and if it isnt acceptable (i.e. 3rd place or better in the AL East, making the post season or almost doing so) then can him.

Vote to Coletrain at the moment... will wait for rebuttle.
