Oakland Raiders
SIgning Tommy Kelly (Who?) - He was put on IR on 10/31, and taken off of IR on 2/4/08....25 days later he is the richest DT in NFL history
Signing Javon Walker - The basically traded one injury prone malcontent WR in Joey Porter, for another injury prone, malcontent WR in Walker....
Trading for DeAngelo Hall - Why would you want this guy on your team? With no clear leadership, selfishness will run rampant. No Lewis, Urlacher, or Taylor to try to keep these guys in line.
Drafting Mcfadden - Why would you draft Mcfadden here?? They finished 6th in the NFL in rushing last season. They have also already stated that they will use Mcfadden like the Saints use Bush getting him around 8 touches per game....On gimmick plays. Last season the Raider O had exactly 1000 plays from scrimmage....Thats 63 plays per game....So they used the 5th overall pick to draft a guy who will be in on less the 7% of the offense in Oakland....Hmmm???
QB's - They also let Culppeper and Mccown walk. Now I dont think that Culpepper OR McCown are the future of the Raiders...But the way things look right now, Russel isnt either
Barry Sims - They cut thier Best OLineman in Barry Sims

I will stay in the West and go with KC.
Draft:
Dorsey is complete ESPN hype. He was the 3rd best Dlineman at LSU last year when healthy. Not to mention hes an injury case from his feet to his neck. I would be shocked if he makes it past first camp.
The OG from Virgina could be ok. I have no book on him.
A lot of people were high on Cottam, trust me as a TN fan when I say he didnt play 10 plays in 5 years at UT.
I was never really impressed by Charles from Texas. Ok but average at best.
In short. The Chiefs have a back past his prime who will remain the focal point of the offense. They still have no quarterback whatsoever. Their offensive line is probably more to blame for last years performance that LJ and Croyle put together and the only player of impact that has been added is a rookie.
The Chiefs have done nothing to improve.
Granted Hall is not the player I most want on my team; however, he is pretty good on the field. Not as good as he thinks but solid nonetheless.
DMac could be an impact player. As a Vol fan I have seen more of him that I care the past few years. The guy is very talented and may fit in well in Oakland.
Goodell: Friggin Sweet said 05/09, 01:58 PM
The Chiefs are in a rebuilding time.....They did exactly what the Cowboys did with Herschel Walker. They unloaded thier BEST player to the Vikes for draft picks.
When a team like the Chiefs is rebuilding, the main focus should be in the trenches, which is what they did. If they can keep Brodie Croyle off of his butt, he may turn out OK. They have a decent RB in Kolby Smith as well as a top young WR in Dwayne Bowe. On my personal list of OROY's, Dwayne Bowe would have been 3rd in voting behind AP and Lynch last season
"DMac could be an impact player. As a Vol fan I have seen more of him that I care the past few years. The guy is very talented and may fit in well in Oakland. "
Cmon Frank......Did you even READ my argument?? The Raiders have already stated PUBLICALY that they intend to use him around 6-8 times per game. Do the math and thats less then 7% of the Offensive plays. Now who's gonna get the ball for the other 93%?? Javon Walker will be out with a injury by week 4....
The Raiders have NO DEPTH
2 QB's on the roster
3 Gaurds on the roster (One of them is Robert Gallery LOL)
NO DEPTH at WR

You Forget, I am a Bronco fan:
Javons first year in Denver:
1000+ wiht a nearly 16 ypc average and 8 TD's. With Jake and a rookie? The guy has big play capability. He says hes healthy. He is a good addition if he is.
Saying and doing are 2 different things. If DMac produces like AP (which he certainly has the capabiltiy) that 8 touches will go to 20.
Hall is a really good player.
You said the Chiefs needed work in the Trenches? They added 1 offensive lineman to help in their cause and thats it. Croyle is a real tossup. You can blame the O-Line as long as that takes you but when does that run out? Young, rebuilding teams need options at that position so they can rule out all possibilties.
If their cause was rebuilding, The Chiefs did nothing.
If their cause was to be better this season, The Chiefs did nothing.
The Raiders did get a possible impact back. A proven WR as long as he stays healthy. A proven NFL Cornerback. Thats much more than I can say for KC.
Goodell: Friggin Sweet said 05/09, 03:18 PM
"The Raiders did get a possible impact back. A proven WR as long as he stays healthy. A proven NFL Cornerback. Thats much more than I can say for KC. "
That statement is full of "If's" and "As long as"........As long as Trent Edwards throws 60 TD's next season, he will break Tom Bradys record. If means nothing
Javon Walker had knee surgery in Green Bay....Then knee surgery in Denver. The fact that he has more knee surgerys then most starting DT's doesnt fare well.
I dont know about a "Proven CB".....Maybe Hall had PROVEN that Ocho gets the best of him every time they line up.....Or maybe Hall has proven to be a premodona.
"1000+ wiht a nearly 16 ypc average and 8 TD's. With Jake and a rookie?"
So now he is in Oakland, with Jamarcus Russel.....LOL. What kind of production do you expect from him there? Russel has 2 TD's, 4 INT's, 4 Fumbles, sacked 6 times in only 66 pass attempts. Oh yeah, with a passer rating of 55.9. Now in GB Walker had Brett....In Denver he had Plumber and Cutler who is pretty good. Who does he have in Oakland? Russell and Andrew Walter combined for 71 pass attempts last season and only 411 yds passing. There is no "good" Qb in Oakland
Frank Pentangeli is Scolded said 05/09, 03:27 PM
Cant believe Im gonna argue this.
We have to give Jamarcus a chance. He was the #1 overall draft pick. He had 2 great games against TN and ND to end his college career. Thats all I can manage to get out. By the way, John Elway had a worse QB rating his rookie year.
QB or not Javon when healthy is good. DMac is equally impressive coming out of college as AP was. Though he thinks he is, Hall is no Champ Bailey. However; that dosent make him bad.
Neither team exactly filled their needs; However:
The Raiders did bring in 2 players who have proven to be quality players at this level.
The Chiefs brought in no players who are ready to play at this level.
I think the Raiders had a better offseason than KC.

Rookies, by and large, suck. I would have picked Chicago. The did nothing to address qb, so they still have Grossman/Orton. They have Cedrick "Party Boat" Benson and a Rookie at RB, and their top 2 receivers left, one of them to a division rival, and they replaced them with a rookie and one of the worst receivers in the NFL Brandon Lloyd. Nice job fellas.

if you are an LSU fan, and actually watched all the LSU games then you realize he sat out hurt more plays than he was in, and the duration of the LSU vs Alabama game was the longest in the history of Football because Dorsey spent 322 minutes rolling around the field hurt. Not to mention he had the senior stat, if 2 guys make the tackle and the senior is standing within 5 yrds the senior gets the credit. If you are an LSU fan you know he was the 3rd best defensive lineman at LSU last year

Report Offensive CommentWhen are people going to start realizing that the packers had a terrible off-season?
CeeLok
When are you gonna get a clue? Other than QB, the Pack didn't have a lot of pressing needs, they were and are a very solid team. The drafted defensive secondary, a slight need, they added depth to both lines, picked up what could be a very good receiver, not really a need, and they got Flynn from LSU for trade bait.
The Pack did what they needed to do in the draft, just like Ted Thompson has done since he got there.
2005 - 4-12
2006 - 8-8
2007 - 13-3
Nuff said.
