You never mentioned we were basing this list off of current statistics. Therefore, I'm going to assume I can go by career stats, but for current players.
1. Hanley Ramirez - SS (Dominican Republic)
2. Ichiro Suzuki - CF (Japan)
3. Manny Ramirez - RF (Dominican Republic)
4. Albert Pujols - 1B (Dominican Republic)
5. Vladimir Guerrero - RF (Dominican Republic)
6. Aramis Ramirez - 3B (Dominican Republic)
7. Ivan Rodriguez - C (Puerto Rico)
8. Robinson Cano - 2B (Dominican Republic)
9. Carlos Zambrano - SP (Venezuela)
I don't see the point in only listing when I have the ability to use all the characters - up to 1200 - that I need.
Looking at our pitchers, Volquez has only been good this year. This is his first good year.
On top of that, I chose Zambrano because if he's going to hit, he's been a proven hitter over the years - for a pitcher that is.
Zambrano also has a career 3.36 ERA - he's very underrated.
In your lineup, you have Ichiro hitting 8th. How do you put Ichiro batting eighth? I had a hard enough time batting Cano 8th.
Ichiro can fuel any lineup, he needs to be, at least, close to the top.

Using this years stats my team is way better
Kosuke Fukudome is hitting .305 with 2 homeruns,17 rbi's and 32 runs scored way better then Vlad whos hitting .260 with only 24 runs scored.Fukudome is having a better season and fits better in my lineup.
Jose Lopez-.294 average,2 homeruns, 24 rbi's
Robinson Cano-.206 average, 4 homeruns,14 rbi's
Look at the numbers, even though Cano is the starting second baseman on one of the best lineups in baseball hes still hitting just over .200 and only 14 rbi's.It shows that hes a hot and cold type of guy while Lopez is consistant making him a better choice
Yunel Escobar-.315 average, 4 homeruns,20 rbi's,29 runs
Aramis Ramirez-.285,8 homeruns,31 rbi's,32 runs
I picked Escobar because hes the perfect number two hitter in that he always gets on base.At number two thats all you want and he fits perfect on my team.
Carlos Lee-.274 average,10 homeruns,35 rbi's
Manny Ramirez-.287 average,10 homeruns,28 rbi's
Lees the better power hitter this season and gets hits when men are on base.
By Ichro batting eight it shows how good my lineup is,hes only hitting around .290 and with his speed hes the perfect guy to hit 8th

"Using this years stats my team is way better"... maybe so, but it would have been nice if you actually stated that.
If you didn't state we were using this year's stats, how am I supposed to know that we are?
However,Cowboys-Celtics-Chisox made a good point in the comments below. How can you base an All-MLB lineup on 1/4 of the season?
I have a hard time thinking that Volquez is going to win over twenty games and lose only a few with an ERA below 1.75. I don't see that happening. ESPN, with their projections line, has projected he will be 22-3 with a 1.34 ERA. Something tells me that isn't going to happen.
Is it possible that he continues his pitching and wins over fifteen games with a good ERA? Absolutely.
However, it's hard to base a team on a small start in a 162-game season.
Now, as for Robinson Cano-
Cano has notoriously been a worse first-half hitter. For example, this is another reason you can't base stats on 1/4th of the season.
Cano hits around .50 points better after the All-Star break.
Actually, I just found the splits.
Pre-All Star break, Cano hits .207. Right now alone he's hitting .7 points better.
Cano's worst year ended with a .297 batting average.

Without this being limited to current stats, the list on the right is better.
I suspect it was meant to include only 2008 numbers, otherwise having Jose Lopez, Volquez, and Soto on there would be crazy. But it didn't specify.

no vote. Zambrano is not under rated. In fact he is OVERRATED. There are way too many good pitchers from outside the US than to put Zambrano as #1.

The reason I went with Zambrano, well the reasons, were that:
He is a decent hitter and if we're going by this year's stats, he still has been doing well.

"I did mean 2008 numbers"
Using this years stats alone in any TD about "best" players is worthless. The sample size is WAY too small, hence it's horribly skewed. No team anywhere ever would sign and/or trade for a player based on 1/4th of a season. I mean, come on, if anyone believes Josh Hamilton is going to drive in 200 runs or Chipper Jones is going to hit .412 this year I've got some real nice swampland for sale cheap!

I am starting to think that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You keep trying to say that Zambrano is overrated, but the stats do not back you up. The only year he was bad was in his first year, back in 2001. And even then, he was the starter in only 1 game. He has an ERA of 2.45, and his career ERA is 3.36. He is for the most part outstanding on both sides of the ball. He had a career high 4 hits tonight, and drove in 2 runs. His OPS thus far is .829. The guy can really hit.
He also struck out 6, and only gave up 2 runs. Simply put, he was an absolute beast tonight, and he has been pitching the way an ace is expected to. Will he have days where he struggles? Sure. But I dare to name one pitcher that hasn't had some games they'd like to forget.
