The best announcer in any sport is Larry Munson

When people think of the Georgia Bulldogs, they usually think of Larry Munson, the legendary broadcaster. He's been the announcer for Georgia since 1966, and he's had so many great calls in his life that it's hard to list them all. He had a health scare this year, but signs point to him still returning to the broadcast booth for another season. He's a great person and explains the game so well for those not watching it live or on tv. The day that Larry Munson retires completely from announcing the Georgia Bulldogs' games is the day that sports radio dies a little.

I say the best announcer is Mr. Baseball, or to the folks who don't know who this guy is...his name is Bob Uecker. He is a great baseball announcer, and lucky for Brewers' fans, we get him to announce all the Brewers's games on the radio.

When people think baseball, they think Uecker. He is a legendary baseball announcer, and it is always great to listen to Bob and you learn a lot, not just about baseball, but about the things that the players have to do...and about the equipment. You also learn some things about his playing days.

I know Larry Munson might be a great announcer, but Bob Uecker is the best baseball announcer in the MLB. He is the best announcer in any sport for that fact. He is such a great announcer, and you know everything that is going on. He keeps you well informed about the game, and baseball in general.

When Uecker retires, baseball is going to change, and sports radio gets worse. He lifts up the spirits of listening the the Brewer's games, and around baseball you will know when he retires.

When I think of Uecker, I really only think of his awesome performance as the announcer in the movie Major League. Uecker is a great announcer, but to tell you the truth, I didn't even know he was still an announcer. It's hard to be able to still hear people like Uecker now because of the cable networks and SportsCenter where you can just watch the highlights instead of listening to the game. Few announcers are ever mentioned at all on ESPN and other sports' channels, but Munson is one of them. His energy and charisma makes him an icon and his quotes are famous to most of all the college football fans. "We just stepped on their face with a knob-nail boat and broke their nose!" Who doesn't love that?

Honestly...I've never heard of Munson.

Anyway...one more thing that is good about Uecker is that he actually announced in a movie, more than what Munson can say about himself.

As you were talking about that ESPN doesn't talk much about announcers, I don't here them talk about Munson.

Bob Uecker is a great announcer for baseball...and is the best announcer in all of baseball.

He just know's how to argue, and because he was in a movie...his level of status as an announcer rises above Munson. I don't think many people have heard of Munson...but plenty of people have heard of Uecker.

Uecker is the best announcer in all of sports.

Crap! Sorry about that...

Uecker is also proabably the funniest announcer ever.

When I think baseball, the last thing I think is Uecker...

Anyways, I know zip about either of these guys, so I'll wait for arguments.

Munson 1992, UGA vs Auburn: "Now Auburn's stadium roars as its offense runs out on the field. Stan White waving at the crowd to make a lot of noise and he says something to an official, and he bumps one of his tight ends. Here they are in that old fashioned T again. Three backs, they only need 8 or 9 inches and White tries to keep it and sneak late, he didn't do it there. He tried to keep it, they ran the full back, White tried to step in. Watch the clock, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, we're not lined up, 3, they have no time-outs, 2, 1, I think its over, they can't get a play off. We saved our selves, I don't know how, they couldn't get a play off. White tried to fake it, they ran to the full, and then he tried to sneak in. Auburn wound up, Auburn messed up with the clock. Auburn couldn't get a play off, the Dawgs stop White trying to sneak in. We saved our selves. No we didn't Old Lady Luck saved us. Old Lady Luck has defeated them. The defense won the ball game, make no mistake about that. 14-10, the defense saved our whatchamacallits."
