Lee Evans will have a better season than Steve Smith

For starters....Lee and Steve are both the same kind of WR. Short, fast WR with exceptional hands and a legit deep threat. But Im gonna list a few reason's why Lee will have a better season than Steve

1) QB Situation - The Panters are in a quandry for the QB spot. Is Jake the guy in Carolina still?? Is the UDFA Matt Moore gonna get some looks? The Bills QB situtation is 10X more solid then last season. Edwards is the clear cut starter and has gotten almost all reps with the 1st team in OTA's so far.

2) Running Game - The Panthers were 14th in rushing last season....Jonathan Stewart is a huge upgrade but the guys he is running behind are getting older. Lynch and Fred Jackson will supply some much run support for the passing game

3) Other WR's - No more Double teams for Lee Evans...James Hardy will command attention from DC's. He is listed at 6 foot 6 with 4.42 speed and a 37 inch verticle. Buffal;o is no longer a one dimesional pass threat team. Parrish, Reed and the other WR's that were #2 on the depth chart will fare much better from the slot as well.

Dont forget how open Smith was when talking about Dwayne Jarretts work ethic last season...Telling him to go watch film

1. Jake is healthy for the first time- and is a Pro-Bowl caliber QB - not to mention a Super Bowl starter this decade- the last Qb that started a SuperBowl in Buffalo is currently waiting for grandkids. Plus Carolina has a very highly thought of #2 guy and turned down a day 1 pick for him during the draft-

2) Carolina upgraded the O-Line AND the RB situation - and Fox is not scared to run the Ball with smith on quick slants - that tore the Bears up in the playoffs- and Carolina is going to put that back in the playbook

3) Hands up all teams that added a player that lead the NFL in catches this decade take one step forward

and if said player already KNOWS your playbook from playing here- take another step

Well Hello Muslim! How was Chicago?

What happened last time Muhammed had a good QB? a Pro Bowl! 93 catches!

Jarrett was another BUST of Carolina draft picks- MM is PROVEN in the NFL and is going to return to form

Finally, Same QB, Same Line, Same PLay- Steve Smith is the Better WR.

"Jarrett was another BUST of Carolina draft picks- MM is PROVEN in the NFL and is going to return to form "

Mushin Muhammad had one of the WORST SEASONS of his career last season and he played all 16 games

40 REC - Lowest total since 1997
570 Yds - Lowest total since 1997
3 TD's - Lowest total since 2001

MM is entering his 13th NFL season...His glory days are behind him. He isnt a young WR waiting to bust out on the scene. He is a VET WR that will to LITTLE if anything to improve his numbers from last season. This Panthers team is not the same team from 2004. The D is sigificantly weaker..The offense is shaky to be polite..

Buffalo on the other hand has things goining in thier direction for a change..

Starting QB - Check
All Pro LT - Check
Legit Ground Game - Check
Solid depth at WR - Check

Dont forget Buffalo plays a much, much weaker schedule...The Bills only play 5 times against teams that made the playoffs. Two of the 5 times are against the Pats. So they only play 3 teams outside thier divison that made the playoffs.....Might be a little easier than last season for the Bills.

This TD isnt about who is the BETTER WR..But who will have the better season

OK ALL 32 teams have a STARTING QB - unless the Raiders start DM at QB like they did in Arkansas

ALL-Pro LT - who is ticked off about his contract and is considering sitting out training camp if he does not get a contract extension

Ground Game- ok
Solid Depth- ok

Now maybe I missed something- If the Bills were so durn good at the air and ground game then how come they were 30 out of 32 teams in offense last year?

Solid Ground game? Have the Bill look UP in the Rushing Yards- there is Carolina looking DOWN at them

And what team failed to score a TD in TWO games last year?

That would be Buffalo wouldn;t it?

and what All-Pro LT and his solid ground game and a HOF QB got SHUT OUT last year?

That would be....Buffalo right?

Steve Smith had 87 catches last year- with 5 different QBs and NO help
Lee Evans with 55 catches only had 2 Diff QBs - and accoring to YOU a bench deeper than the Lakers

MM gave up a lot to Devin Hester last year - as Lovie tried to do SOMETHING to kickstart Grossman.

Jerry RICE couldn;t get 100 catches in Chicago if he was 25.

For starters, Peters isnt thinking about sitting out. The only reason he hasnt been at any of the OTA's is cause he is commin off groin surgery. The same surgery that kept him out of the Pro Bowl last season. Buffalo is gonna pony up a new contract...Dont worry about that.

"MM gave up a lot to Devin Hester last year"

Cmon Dave.... Take off the homer glasses. Hester caught 20 passes and 2 TD's. If that's your definition of ALOT, then I guess Bernard Berrian had ALOT of pass REC's last season. I guess I have ALOT of playoff experience as a NFL QB too....

The reason the Bills Offense struggled last season is many fold....

1) Rotating QB's - JP and Trent were trading the Starting QB role all season last year.Thats fixed barring injuries of course

2) PLAY CALLING - Remember the Cleveland game? 4th and GOal from the 8 and they call a screen pass in a foot of snow. Now that Turk is calling the shots, we can see some logic put into play calling

3) INJURIES - Widely documented and uncontestable that Buffalo was hit with injuries WORSE than any other team last season

Like I said, I dont think Lee is a better WR YET. But this isnt about who is better, just the better sta

I know it is better stats

But if you compare apples to Apples- Steve Smith is the MUCH better wideout

Meaning Trent has to be THAT much better than Jake to give Lee the Edge- and the Buffalo Offense has to be THAT much better.

and that Deep WR roster that Buffalo has is going to TAKE away from Lee catches- do you really think Colbert is going to take ONE catch away from Steve Smith?

Mushin Muhammed is going to Help Steve Smith by taking away the double team- and Jeff King is still an underrated TE

Even WITH the Qb issues last year- Steve Smith had a Better year than Lee- IF they have HALF as many issues as last year, unless Jim Kelly comes out of retirement, or Buffalo trades for New Englands Super Bowl losing QB- AGAIN

Steve Smith will STILL put up better numbers than Stagger Lee

Stop making good arguments so I can choose easier.

Both will have sub-par years. I don't know if Trent Edwards has what it takes to put up the big numbers for Evans, and I can't say Jake Delhomme will be good again. It's all up in the air, but I'm gonna say both have ALRIGHT years. Neither being a good to great year.

So really, I don't know who will have the better year, but I'd lean to Smith. Will wait for arguments.

Report Offensive Comment

Whoa.....Down 0-4 before I can get my second arguement. This is gonna be a tough on to win

Report Offensive Comment

haha goodell isn't used to losing this quick

Report Offensive Comment

I admit my initial inclination was towards Smith, having his old buddies back (Delhomme and Moose) as well as some new ones (Hackett and Stewart).

But I know top-notch arguments are forthcoming from both, so I'm waiting.

Report Offensive Comment

0-4 is wrong. I'll vote left and make David change my mind.

Report Offensive Comment

I make better Kool Aid than you Goodell.

Report Offensive Comment

Yes,I'm going left so far.

Report Offensive Comment

But Goodell, no way you are the GOAT at Kool-Aid. This little black kid down my street owns the competition when it comes to making Kool-Aid. I forget his name. I think it's Terrell or Tyrone or something like that. Either way, he charges 50 cents to buy a glass on the weekends....and it's worth every penny.

Report Offensive Comment

My Kool-Aid is like Crack.....Once you have a glass, you have to have more.

You believe in Crystal Lite, 'cuz you believe in you.

Report Offensive Comment

Generic Kool-Aid is 15cents or 10cents, I can't remember. But I think it's called Flavor-Aid....and it really sucks some off. Spend the extra nickel and get the shizna. It's not like that nickel is gonna put a dent in your gas fund. BaZing!

Report Offensive Comment

better arguments from the left...right hasnt shown why Smith will be better, and he even says there is marked improvement on the RB side of the ball, which will lead to more carries for the backs and less reps for Smith.

Evans still has room for improvement as he is still young. Smith has played an already fulfilling HOF career, and his age will catch up with him.

Right is showing why Buffalo is a bad team. We all know that, but it has nothing to do with who will be the better WR. just because a team is bad doesnt mean everyone on the team is. And talking about the team has nothing to do with the players.

Goodell: GOAT Kool Aid maker | 06/04/08, 01:44 PM

Take a cup of sugar, and mix it into a cup of water. There you have it...

Report Offensive Comment

Unfortunately I think a healthy combination of Steve Smith and Jake Delhomme is incredibly dangerous, regardless of other factors.

Since I cannot vote against Evans, I will simply sustain. Consider this a point for David.

On second thought, point for Roger for a very interesting and challenging TD.
