The NBA is very simply scripted by officiating. It is a game of what is and is not called a foul and whom it???s called on. It is no longer a game of Jumanji putting a ball in a hole while Cyclops tries to stop him. The Officials can control the outcome of any game with no recourse.

The script revolves around what sells. Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Johnson/Bird, Lakers/Celtics, Shaq, etc... If Jordan didn???t score it was a foul on the other team. All Lebron has to do is charge the lane and the defender either has to move pick up another foul. Lebron has the basketball skill of a warthog. Get ready b/c Lebron will win 6 of the next 10 titles guaranteed.

Why does this work? Without stars like MJ, LJ, Kobe, and Shaq the NBA would be the NHL. The other players would be paid like they were in the NHL. The difference in pay scale is enough to make the rest of the league accept it.

One point from this year: Why can???t these teams win on the road? Home team winning produces good times and fan support. It also produces 6 and 7 game series. There is no home court advantage, these guys are pros. The best team should win regardless of the building.

Just watched one Tuesday night.

More points to ponder as to why the NBA is not a sport but yet Sports Entertainment:

Why did the Hawks give the ???Great Celtics??? such a run? Atlanta has recently been titled the best living city for ???Professional African Americans??? in the United States. The NBA has been missing out on tapping into this market for years. Not anymore. They will be contenders from here on.

Take a peak back at the ratings from the year Jordan was suspended for Gambling and playing baseball. There is a reason they reinstated him.

Name the only other ???Great American SPORTS??? entity ran by 1 man in a DICTATOR role? The WWE and good ole Vincent Kennedy McMahan.

Last but not least for this argument: There is no possible way in heck that wasn???t a foul on Fisher, He was on Barry like Michael Irvin on a ???pixie stick???.

It was a great game last Tuesday, with back and forth play, drama and suspense, and a final outcome dictated by the play on the floor. It was exciting, to say the least.

Really enjoyed the Boston - Atlanta series too. Both teams made the playoffs, so it was expected that both teams would play like playoff teams.

And I also miss Michael Jordan, just as it appears you did. The ratings were always high when he was playing, because he was amazing to watch.

Jordan was suspended for punching Reggie Miller. He was never suspended for gambling. And certainly wasn't suspended for playing baseball. Don't know where you got that idea.

Read Buckys comment on page 2. I like his theory as to the situation with Jordan and leaving the NBA for 1 year. If the popularity of the sport takes a hit so does the business in Vegas. Whether it was an NBA suspension under the table or the Mob killing his father there was an unknown reason.

The final outcome is never dictated by the play on the floor. A shot not made due to a charging call with 8 minutes to go in the second qtr counts for 2 pts the same as it would if it were the last play of the game. The game is completely dictated by the officials. Give me the whistle in any NBA game and I can dictate the winner and the spread within 3 pts with no evidence to the contrary.

Actually the Hawks had a losing record and Boston was "sliced bread", by all accounts it should have been a 4 game sweep. There is a reason the Hawks stepped up. The City of Atlanta is going to be a cash cow for Stern in the next decade.

These guys are professionals. Dewayne Wade is below average at best, yet for 1 playoff run he was God just like MJ was. Why? At the time Lebron was starting out and Kobe was a rapist. Shaq and D Wade were the way to go.

So the Hawks didn't make the playoffs? I'm confused. I saw them in a playoff series with the Celtics. I must have been imagining things.

And Wade, pre-injury, was fantastic. Since his injuries, he's been average. Certainly below average. That would be your TDing ability. And nobody would ever try and compare your TDing ability to D-Wade's basketball game. There's just no comparison.

I don't need to read Bucky's comments. Those are just his opinions. They certainly aren't the truth. I know we really landed on the moon, the government is not listening in on every phone call I make, and for the most part, the NBA plays the games straight up. Conspiracy Theories Are Not Us.....that's the sign on my wall.

I thought you were retired Frank? From TD's that is.

June 12, 2008  11:14 AM ET

I bet you believe almost everything Donaghy has said, Frank. I think there MIGHT be some truth to it. But in that case, how do the Spurs win? No way anyone in the league wants the Spurs to win.

June 12, 2008  11:15 AM ET

Ha nice argument Gruden, cant really argue with that

June 12, 2008  11:18 AM ET

Frank's conspiracy theories are baaaaack!

June 12, 2008  11:18 AM ET

I wonder why every player who ever played with Jordan says he's the best ever.
I wonder why Kobe and Lebron ranked 1 and 2 when the players were polled on who is the scariest player to match up against.
Do you think the players are a part of this "script"?

June 12, 2008  11:18 AM ET

frank has been proved right, by what has been said, I actually used to think he was nuts, now I ain't so sure he might be onto somethin

June 12, 2008  11:19 AM ET

read the argument, the bigger the total pie the more to go around, do the other players want to be paid like NHL players?

June 12, 2008  11:27 AM ET

I was on a tour of Universal Studios in California, and got lost when I went to get a drink. Then I stumbled onto the set where they were filming the 2008 playoffs. It's totally fake.

David Stern had to bribe me to keep my mouth shut, but the payments just dried up. And by the way, his real name is Eddie Goldstein and he's a low level producer from Brentwood.

June 12, 2008  11:32 AM ET

Here are some great recent scripts

Spurs sweeping the Cavs
Spurs v. Detroit in the Finals
Spurs winning 4 titles in 9 years
Pistons beating the Lakers in 5 in the Finals
Pistons making it to 2 straight Finals

There are many more instances where you see the deserving team win, because they're better, not more entertaining, than you see these conspiracies occur. Atlanta went 7 with the Celtics because the Celtics have difficulty matching up against playmakers that can go one on one. They play great team transition defense, but their only great one on one defender is KG. Atlanta has Joe Johnson and and Josh Smith, and the Cavs have Lebron. Now you'll see them have trouble against the Lakers because of Kobe. Do a little scouting instead of just making the easy call that there must be some wrongful doing behind it all. You just can't accept what is happening in front of your face. Of course there are games that are called poorly, there are missed calls, especially in basketball. It has always been that way and will continue to be. Basketball is a hard game to officiate. In the end the better team prevails.

So Frank, You are going to accept without question, the word of a felon and admitted liar? Don't you think there is at least a little room for skeptisism when considering the word of Donaghy? There may be some truth to what he says, but before convicting the NBA, a little more evidence would be nice/

Maybe Rasheed Wallace is the only player who does. Players and coaches wouldn't complain about the officiating if they were being paid to keep their mouths shut.

i have been saying this every since the day i got turned on to TN and Pearl then suddenly realized that the game is completely dictated by the officials

June 12, 2008  11:38 AM ET

I don't know if it's ALL scripted. Maybe the refs have INFLUENCED a couple of series or games. Who knows? But if that's true, then the Spurs would have to beat the team AND the refs.

June 12, 2008  11:41 AM ET

Joey Crawford is the sixth defender on the court against the Spurs. LOL

June 12, 2008  11:42 AM ET

sometimes scripts fail, they thought Duncan and Tony Longoria were popular, kind of like Vince Mcmahan thought Big show vs Mayweather was a good idea

June 12, 2008  11:45 AM ET

I don't think this conspiracy is true, but so far the arguments on the left are indeed superior
