k rod

I'll follow suit and give my pick only so we have the same amount of arguments.

Mariano Rivera. I'll explain, so don't vote until my 2nd argument is out, please.

ok k rod has 26 league leading saves and that is 10 more than rivera has

he has converted 26 of 27

leads league in both

how isnt it him

Listen. To be the best closer in the MLB, the American League, or even just your division, you don't always have to have the most saves. If a pitcher is 30-10 but another is 29-5, the one with 29 wins is the better pitcher even though he doesn't have as many wins.

K-Rod is 27 of 28 in saves.

Rivera is 18 of 18 when given the ball with Enter Sandman blasting though the speakers.

Sure, Rivera has nine less saves, that's easy to see. But that definitely does not mean he is worse than K-Rod. K-Rod has a 96.4% mark at saving games when given the opportunity. Rivera, on the other hand, is perfect. 100%. He did not blow one save all year. K-Rod did blow a save.

So if Rivera threw a respectable amount of saves (hey, it's #4 in the AL) and he has a better efficiency level than K-Rod, shouldn't that make Rivera better than him?

Also, even though K-Rod had TEN MORE chances at saving games than Rivera, Mariano Rivera still has more strikeouts (32-27). He is also finding the plate better, with 3 walks to K-Rod's 18. The icing on the cake is this: Rivera has the better ERA. He has a mark of 0.87. K-Rod's ERA is a 2.10.

Tell me how Rivera isn't better than your choice.

Forfeited Turn

I guess I should just end this then.

Should be a blowout in Cheezhead's favor, no offense.

Rivera and Lidge are 2 best closers in the game this year, at least so far.

June 13, 2008  11:54 PM ET

No offense to anyone but 100 percent is one hundred percent.

Lidge could be comeback player of the year for NL.

Not always...

But I get your point.

Yankees baby! They're doing their trademark early summer turnaround. If only they could play competant baseball the first two months of the season, they'd win 100 every year.

Mo is the best so far in MLB this 2008 season
