If you haven't noticed, Don Imus, the man that made racial remarks about the 2007 NCAA Women's Basketball Champions Rutgers players, is back at it again. This time, another mention of African-Americans directed at Adam "Pacman" (or no Pacman, who cares) Jones.
Imus apologized last time and some of us may have forgiven him. Now it seemed like he's back on track, but then boom. He's back at it. It's like he likes saying stuff like this. He already had a second chance and I think it's time for him to be fired.
Obviously he has something against African-Americans and it's better for the station he does his job on to let him go before it loses more listeners because of another bone-head remark by Don Imus.
Biakaba:Stay Classy said 06/24, 06:57 PM
What he said about the Rutgers women's b-ball team was indeed inappropriate. These shock jocks get on a roll and all sorts of stupid crap comes flying out. With Pac-Man, and bear in mind, I haven't heard the actual audio, but from what I read, and what the two African Americans who work for Imus have said, is that it was sarcastic.
I have listened to Imus off and on through out my adult life and as recently as last week he was talking about the upcoming presidential election and while he was leaning to McCain, he stated that if Obama won it wouldn't be a bad thing. That doesn't strike me as racist.
Now, another point, is that during the US Open there were several comments made about Rocco Mediates ethinicity. One of the commentators commented that he looked like he should be cleaning Tiger's pool. If the comment had been made the other way around, no doubt the sports caster would have lost his job.
The long and the short of it is, that it should go both ways. What Imus said was dumb, no doubt, but he shouldn't lose his job for it. Tom Jackson was going to walk off the set over Limbaugh, I don't see the two AA that work for Imus threatening that.
Cheezhead said 06/24, 07:14 PM
I never said that Imus was fully racist, but he has to have a little something against African-Americans. First off, look at the Rutgers incident. He should have gotten the boot then. Now you have the PacMan thing and half of America ALREADY is waiting for him to make one false move to jump on him. Obviously Imus should be watching his words, and here he goes making another remark that many can look at and say is racist.
Seriously, he basically said he got arrested so many times because he is black. That may have worked back in the 1960's, but it isn't like that anymore.
Imus is lucky he got a second chance. He should have known that he had to watch what he said from then on. Then he says another controversial thing? All this will do is chip away listeners from the radio station, and it just isn't worth it for the station to keep Imus around.
Biakaba:Stay Classy said 06/25, 10:31 AM
Where do we draw the line at controversy? Number one, we live in an era with an out of control media that jumps on ever dot and tittle that is spoken in this country. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson make the argument ever day about racial profiling. Imus can't? It was a sarcastic remark that was taken out of context so the media could run with it. After all, the floods in the Mid-West are old news, so our tragedy eager news teams have to wait until there is another car bombing in Baghdad.
Personally, I really don't care about borderline comments. I'm not easily offended. I do believe that the race card is played often to avoid personal responsilblity. Pac-Man's actions led to someone getting killed. Enter an old, angry white man in Don Imus who just got his career restarted after a racial controversy. Never mind Pac's arrest record and actions, now he's religious and going to pray for Don Imus. Ridiculous.
I don't care what kind of music people listen to, I don't care about tatoos and Paul Pierce throwing gang signs during playoff games. To me, it's expression. However, there are "some" people out there that's views are reinforced by such actions.
Cheezhead said 06/25, 06:55 PM
Look, the fact is that Don Imus already made serious racial remarks about the Rutgers women's basketball team. That should tell all Americans that this guy is racist or has something against African Americans. So when he says ANOTHER thing against an African American, how is America supposed to honestly believe that he was being sarcastic, and not saying he was sarcastic to save his job and hide his true feelings?
Even if he WAS sarcastic, this guy and his previous remarks already got America to turn on him. So for him to do another stupid move like this, that isn't helping anything or anyone at all. This won't give the station any more listeners; all it can do is take fans away. This won't make Don Imus move into a better light; all that will happen is him losing more fans.
So what is the point of keeping him around. It's pretty obvious that Imus will make another bonehead remark and get heat again, and that won't help anyone. The best thing to do is let it all go--out the door.
Biakaba:Stay Classy said 06/26, 11:24 AM
Shock jocks are paid to push the envelope. With his history, he should have known better than to say what he did. If you've listened to the show, no one is exempt from a tongue lashing. What occurs to me in this whole thing, is that only WHITE people are ever publicly raked over the coals and called racist when they make an off the cuff remark.
Sure, you can go into the blogoshpere and read about the racist remarks made by other colors and creeds, but in the mainstream media, it's acceptable for other races to make fun of any and every body. Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Carlos Mencia...they all make crass remarks about ALL races, not just their own.
If you are white and make a remark that is even close to borderline, it's run with and you are labeled and thats it. Look at Ali and Cosell. Ali was a Muslim, he was active in equal rights, Cosell was a white sports broadcaster who covered Ali's fights. They forged a friendship. Cosell blows it on MNF and calls Alvin Garrett a little monkey. He's fired. In an HBO documentary about Cosell, his daughter says he called her as a child and his grand kids...little monkeys.
Just food for thought.

Cheezhead you have no clue and likely have never even listened to Imus Imus has been talking about racial profiling for weeks on his show. Don has a black producer and two new black co hosts. To suggest that his comment was anything other than his continuing conversation about racial profiling is idiotic and stupid, and only those in the media and this site who have no clue, and of course the big racist Al Sharpton, are saying otherwise.

Imus was 101% correct and proper in his remarks about Pacman, and he did absolutely nothing wrong. His show has 2 black co hosts and a black producer and he was pointing out the racial profiling that goes on. People like Al Sharpton ought to put a sock in it, along with people like Jesse Jackson, and even Barack Obama. Sharpton is a hypocrit and a racist; his attacks on white NY police officers a few years back in the infamous "rape that never happened" was over the top, and he never apologized for it --- after smearing the reputations of dozens of white officers. Jesse Jackson is anti semetic --- His comment about "Heiny Town" which infuriated the jewish community was never criticized by Sharpton, and Jackson never apologized or was called to answer for it. And now we have Barack Obama, who publicly says that his campaign is not about race, and then just last week Obama plays the race card at a private fund raiser where there were no cameras (oops Barack - you were taped) --- accusing the Republicans that they "would" bring up race (they had not done it yet). That, in itself, is a racist remark by Obama, and who can forget Reverend Wright and his anti white rantings that Barack sat and listened to for 20 years?
No. Imus is not guilty of anything this time around....and the black activists that are trying to get their faces in the news and go after Imus and others need to be called out for what they are ---- anti white racists. Sharpton is a publicity seeking opportunist, who happens to be black. Jackson is an idiot adulterer, who happens to be black. Obama is a hypocritical Presidential candidate who happens to be black
As for PacMan saying he was hurt by the Imus comments - BS. Pac is looking for a pay day ---- he did not even talk to Imus before he shot off his mouth.
All this political correctness has been taken WAY over the top by black activists such as Sharpton ... time to shut it down. GO IMUS

Larry B's comment may have been the most conflicting point ever. On one hand Imus is racist, the 2 new b;ack co-hosts were just to get people to forget he was a biggot. On the other hand Al Sharpton is racist.

Racism a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
This fits Al Sharpton to a T

According to the United Nations conventions, there is no distinction between the term racial discrimination and ethnic discrimination. If you remember Jesse Jackson's comment about Heiny town that so infuriated the Jewish community - Mr Sharpton was nowhere to be found. If you look at Sharpton's history, he has NEVER been on any side by the black side when it comes to racial tensions.

The Rutgers comment was stupid --- Imus has made inappropriate comments his entire career and he was punished and handled that incidetn very well...BUT Mr Imus is hardly a racist - he is ascerbic, irreverent, sarcastic, caustic, and totally off the charts on everyone (remember when he spoke at the Journalist dinner and completely dumped on the Clintons - who were sitting in the audience .. when asked why he dissed the President and First Lady in their presence, he retorted that he was not going to be hypocritical and act differently behnd their backs vs in front of them. But Mr Imus has never been a racist ---- Sharpton, on the other hand, has a very different history of anti white statements and actions. Criticize Imus for a lot of things - vulgarity - crassness - inapproproate comments ---- but not racism --- and he should neither be suspended or fired for this --- In fact, he should not even be midly reprimanded for doing what he has been doing for weeks - talking about black issues in a constructive light
