Richard Jefferson is an excellent SF who averaged a team leading 22.6ppg on the New Jersey Nets and is their best player........

To give him up for a prospect in Yi and an injury prone player like Bobby Simmons.......

At the very least, the Nets should have held out for Milwaukee's 1st round draft pick.......

Acutally, I'm thinking that the Nets got the better part of the deal.

Think about it in the sense that the Bucks ar not winning with a great lineup. But see that lineup SHOULD win, because it doesn't have untapped potential. Most of the players on the Bucks are in their prime, but the Bucks continue to play horrible basketball.

If a team is struggling it usually helps to have a young prospect. Well, that just went out of the window with this trade. Yi showed tremendous potential in his first season. He may be able to develop into a long defender for the Nets, while the Bucks just acquired a player in his prime that won't help them whatsoever.

Why would they give up their lottery pick from just one year ago who averaged 8.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in only 25 minutes a game? If he averages around 35-40 that could easily amount to 14-7 a game and maybe even more as he gets used to the physical style of the NBA.

The Nets just added a great piece for their future, and the Bucks just added someone who will get this team nowhere. The Bucks aren't going to win anything anytime soon, and that wait might be longer without a growing player in Yi Jianlian.

G-Mo Williams......17.2ppg
G-Redd..................22.7ppg
F-Villanueva..........11.7ppg
F-Jefferson............22.6ppg
C-Bogut.................14.3ppg

Thats 86ppg.........Now Williams scoring will have to go down with the addition of RJ but that just means he will have to play the position he was signed to do, PG, not SG.......

The bench isnt too shabby either......

Des Mason.............9.7ppg
Ram Sessions......8.1ppg and 7.5apg
Charlie Bell.............7.6ppg and 3.1apg
Gadzuric..................3.2ppg and 2.8rpg

Now the Bucks need to spend that No.8 pick on Kevin Love who can backup the PF and C spots

Sure next season might look like the Bucks got the better deal, but do you think that in the end the Bucks will have gotten the better end? I know you might say the Bucks are trying to win NOW, but they are going to be in a TOUGH division next year.

On paper Cleveland may not look like the best team, but LeBron has been able to carry this team to the playoffs in the past 2 years, the 2nd round this year and the Finals the year before.

Chicago is going to get a lot better this year with thier first pick and might be ready to make the playoffs next year.

Detroit seems to somehow manage to make it to the playoffs every year. Even with all the trade speculation this offseason I believe they will make the playoffs once more.

If anything, the Bucks made it hard to win in a few years. What's the point of getting to the playoffs just to get beat every year for a couple years before they have to go to rebuilding again?

With this trade the Bucks might be able to get to the playoffs for the next 3-4 years, but after it would be rebuilding time. If they said no, they could be close to having a team that can compete consistently for many years to come.

The Bucks are now a better squad than Chicago and Indiana.......They might be the 2nd best team in the Central since Detroit is possibly going to tinker with their chemistry.......At worst they are the 3rd best team.......

Mo Williams is 25
Redd is 28
Villanueva is just 23
RJ is only 28
Bogut is just 23

Des Mason is oldest at 30
Sessions is 22
Bell is 29
Gadzuric is 30

Draft pick will be a kid in his early 20's.......

Do you think this team can go deep in the playoffs for years to come? I don't. This was a waste of a move. Now, look at the NETS potential lineup in a couple years:

G - Marcus Williams
G - Devin Harris
F - Yi
F - Boone
C - Krstic

Throw in the 10th pick this year and that will be a contender. In the long run, the Nets just built themselves to win, while the Bucks just assured another rebuilding period in the near future.

voting right...its nor robbery...RJ shouldnt have been traded, but he would have eventually requested it anyway playing with horrible players

June 26, 2008  04:19 PM ET

Im leaning to DJ because the Nets traded the wrong player, they got ride of the star of there team, as fas as im concerend trading Carter for this group of Bucks players would have helped them more

June 26, 2008  04:23 PM ET

Amazing. The Nets are now going to tank 2 seasons just for the hope of signing Lebron in 2010. Shameless.

June 26, 2008  04:32 PM ET

I'm of the opinion that Yi is not going to be anything special ever. Vote to dj

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

June 26, 2008  04:42 PM ET

Jay-Z had nothing to do with this deal. Neither did Bruce Ratner. The Nets owners are just for show. That's all I can say about that. Anyway, vote left.

June 26, 2008  04:43 PM ET

This has the potential to be best starting lineup in the Central, especially if Billups or a Piston leaves that group

June 26, 2008  04:46 PM ET

Williams and Harris play the same position

Carter is absent from his Nets team

June 26, 2008  04:48 PM ET

G - Marcus Williams
G - Devin Harris
F - Yi
F - Boone
C - Krstic

That lineup might scare folks down at the local YMCA, but NBA teams would laugh at it.

June 26, 2008  04:52 PM ET

I agree

June 26, 2008  07:57 PM ET

I think the Bucks did get the better end of this deal on paper. We(the Bucks) got rid of an awful awful contract in Bobby Simmons..as well as a guy who didn't want to be in Milwaukee. Richard Jefferson is a guy who can help us out on defense a well...which is a solid move. Vote to dj
