Most likely Oriole to get Traded

Two rules to this
1. Which Oriole is most likely to get traded
2. For what players and to what team

Ill go with Brian Roberts to the cubs for Josh Vitters,Sean Gallagher and Welington Castillo

First off the Cubs have been looking at Roberts for quite some time and need another bat. Roberts is a speedy second baeman and a good leadoff hitter something they havent had for some time. It would alow Soriano to move down to the 3,4 or 5 spot where he could make better use of his power and drive in more runs. Roberts could also spark the team in the playoffs and bring a ring back to Chicago.

This is one of the few deals which makes sense for the Orioles

Josh Vitters - One of the Cubs best prospects is a third baseman with great range and an amazing bat. In A ball this year hes hitting .346 with nine rbis in 13 games this year. Hes only 19 years old and with time has the potential to become a solid third baseman for us in a few years

Castillo - We need more depth at catcher and he fits that bill. This 21 year old is hitting .333 this year with 15 rbi's in double A. With Soto as the Cubs starter for many years theres no need for Castillo but as an Oriole he could become a starter soon

Ill go with George Sherrill and to the New York Yankees for either Tyler Clippard/J. Brent Cox/Mark Melancon/Brett Gardner or any other young Yankees pitching prospect

This makes sense for both teams.

Lets start with background. Inside word out of Orioles meetings says they are going to get George as many saves as possible then trade him at the deadline.

Now, for the Orioles.
The Orioles get their young pitcher they are looking for. They have wanted this since this whole rebuilding stage began. They would be nice players to play next to Adam Jones, Matt Wieters, Luke Scott, Brian Roberts, Nick Markakis, and Adam Loewen.

Now for the Yankees. They get the left handed reliever they need. They currently have one in the bullpen and they need more for the playoffs and the late surges they always have.

Now, why would the Orioles need a young catcher? They have Matt Wieters surging through the minor league system and will be up in September.

First off why would the Orioles trade there best pitcher to there divison rival who there fighting for third place. It just doesnt make sense. As an Oriole fan I would be pissed if I saw Sherrill as a Yankee and there managements would never pull that deal. What if Sherrill becomes the Yankees closer in a few years? The deal just wont happen no matter what prospect the Orioles get in return

Outside of Matt Wieters who else do we have. Ramons gonna be gone soon so we'll need another good one. Plus Castillo would only help push Wieters to become an even better catcher and could be a vaulble trade asset somewhere down the line, so t only makes sense for them to get him.

Getting Gallagher would be one of the final pieces of the puzzle for us. He is 23 and has a 4.36 era in the majors which is better then many of our starters who are pitching for us now. Even if we were to have him stay in triple A for the year you cant beat a 3.39 average.

Getting Gallagher, Vitters, and Castillo would help our team be a contender in a few years while givig Roberts to a team we wont have to face unlike the Sherrill if he was to go to the Yankees

The reason why you would trade Sherrill to a division rival is because he is 31 years old. The direction the Orioles are going in, they want youth instead of the type of talent that Sherrill brings.

I dont think we really need to look outside of Matt Wieters. As far as i am concerned, will be the best player on the O's in a few years. And we Guillermo Quiroz who Dave Trembley has said he is the idle back-up catcher and he could start for many other teams. And he is only 26.

You mentioned getting a catcher and you said who do we have after Weiters. Well, we have Loewen, Burres, and Matusz; but who do we have after that? Thats what any of those NYY pitching prospects would bring to the Birds.

"You mentioned getting a catcher and you said who do we have after Weiters. Well, we have Loewen, Burres, and Matusz; but who do we have after that? Thats what any of those NYY pitching prospects would bring to the Birds"

Castillo was just part of the deal. He has the potential to become a star but hes not the reason why the Orioles pull this deal. We need another third baseman because outside of Mora we have no one. Why not get Josh Vitters who in a year or two will be up in the Majors making an impact. Also
Gallagher is better then any of the pitching prospects the Yankees were to give us, trust me there all a bit overrated I saw them all pitch in Trenton and they are inconstant either lights out or wild.

Brett Gardner is not a pitcher but a left fielder. As you said before we already have our outfield taken care of so why would we need him. Not even that but why would the Yankees trade him. Gardners going to take over for Damon, Abreu, or Matsui some where down the line so it makes no sense to trade him to a division rival for a relielver.

Gallagher is 23 and has a 4.36 era in the majors which is better then most of our starters along with Vitters and Castilloitworks

And outside of Melvin Mora we have Scott Moore who is a great player and is ONLY 24. Oh, and we have Aubrey Huff who can play third. And dont forget, he is only 31.

I have a question... why do we want Vitters who is batting .240 in single A!?

My fault, i was under the impression that Brett was a pitcher.

Ok, look at it this way. Our future would be...

C- Matt Wieters
1B- probably Mark Texiera
2B- Brian Roberts
SS- Brandon Fahey (hopefully not)
3B- Scott Moore
OF- Adam Jones
OF- Luke Scott
OF- Nick Markakis
P- Adam Loewen
P- Brian Burres
P- Matusz
P-Matt Albers
CP- Chris Ray
Now, with my trade, you add one more top of the line young pitcher to the rotation. You are already strong at every position except SS and your deal doesnt involve one. And, notice, George Sherrill is no where near the future as we want it. However, we would have Brian Roberts as a veteran leader who can lead off and get on bsae for our power bats in Tex, Markakis, and Moore.

Good luck Gu3, ill explain Gallagher later ran out of room

Plus why Roberts will get traded

Tyler Clippard is no longer in the Yankees system. He is pitching for the Washington Nationals. Not sure if he is still up with them or back in AAA but I know he made at least one start this year for the Nationals.

Cards are more likely to get Sherrill for Clayton Mortensen and there best SS prospect though good thinking this should be a good td

Report Offensive Comment

Yeah, the Yanks traded Clippard to the Nats for Jonathan Albaladejo in December. And one more thing:

"Now for the Yankees. They get the left handed reliever they need."

Why would the O's trade their closer to a division rival? That wouldn't make much sense for them. They're not gonna want to do that, nor will the Yankees want to give up anything good to the O's.

The Cubs-Orioles deal for Roberts is dead. DeRosa is playing very well and I don't think the Cubs will deal Gallagher unless it's for another starting pitcher. With the quantity of arms in the Orioles bullpen, I'll be very surprised if Chad Bradford is around after July 31. He's pitching very well right now and his 0.00 ERA in postseason play will make him a very valuable asset by the trade deadline.

Thankyou tradeangelos ill use that in my upcoming blog

Regardless of the inside word going around...I cant understand why the Orioles would trade their closer at this point. He was part of the Bedard deal. Isn't he under their control? Is he old enough or experienced enough for arbitration? I dont understand it. The Bedard deal is the best thing that team ever did.

We have Chris Ray and George is 31

Amen trade Sherrill for prospects

Report Offensive Comment

Vote left i agree why would they trade with a division rival

Report Offensive Comment

Wow OrioleFever, you agreed with me, then voted the other way.

Brett Gardner isn't a pitching prospect...

Report Offensive Comment

Well I wasnt familiar with Sherrill so thats why I asked.

That said...I dont see how they will trade him to a division rival. Also...what kind of prospects will the Yankees give up? None of the guys you mentioned will be worth getting for a guy who is potentially an all-star closer.
