NFL Nation TD Tourney 3:Round 1:Dyhard vs FANMAN:Top 3 Hotseat Coaches

THis doesn't have to be in order.

1.Lane Kiffin - Oakland Raiders
2.Scott LIinehar - St. Louis Rams
3.Mike Nolan - San Francisco 49ers

Alright, I'm going to start with Lane Kiffin. He is on the hotseat the most this year because of the additions that the Raiders have made this year. They have made the additions of Darren McFadden in the draft, and they have also signed some players through free agency. Those players consist of Javon Walker, Gibril Wilson, John Wade and DeAngelo Hall. The payroll of this team is $150 million! The most in the league, Kiffin needs to win, and he needs to win NOW.

Scott Linehar had a horrible team last year because of injuries. Well, he hasn't had a winning record as a coach with the Rams, and coaches don't survive their 3rd year of a nonwinning record. He even hired a new offensive coordinator. He is on a big hot seat this year.

Mike Nolan is on a big hot seat too. He had a fued with Alex Smith last year about Smith not being tough enough. This is going to be big this year as he is in his 4th year of coaching for the 49ers and he is 16-32. Only Joe Bugel and Don Shula have lasted to their 5th season with a .333 record.

More to come

I agree with all of them, but I gotta say Wade phillips has the hottest seat right now, over Mike Nolan. I know that sounds crazy, how could a 13-3 coach be on a hot seat? Well, His seat is soo hot, Even if he makes the playoffs he could be gone.

They have already paid Jason Garret and he is the coach of teh future. Wade phillips has to be mor eon the hot seat tahn Nolan Because If nolan goes 8-8, he has a job. If Phillips even goes 106 he could be outr of a job.

Its not If Phillips gets fired, its when.

Bottom line is that Phillips has the hottest seat, because Hes basically gone unless they go Superbowl or championsip game. Nolan on the other hand, just has to get to 8-8 to be safe.

Wade Phillips just had a good team last year, and Mike Nolan needs to win because he isn't winning a lot of games.

He can't get a lot of wins at San Francisco and coaches don't last if they have 3 consecutive losing seasons.

Wade Phillips will make the playoffs again this year, just how far will he go? Mike Nolan isn't even going to get to 8-8 this year.

Why would Phillips be out of a job going 10-6? That is a good year, and he won't be out of a job like htat.

They will go to the NFC Championship game because they are a good team, and they have the talent to do that.

Mike Nolan isn't going to even get to a winning record so he will be gone. He HAS to get to a winning record, or he is going to be fired.

Wade Phillips doesn't HAVE to get to anything. He will get to the Championship Game and they don't really have to worry about anything.

When they make it to the Championship Game, they won't have to worry because that just means that they are one step closer to winning the Super Bowl, which is the ultimate goal.

Mike Nolan has a lot of pressure on him. He had a fued with Alex Smith last year, which isn't helping his situation as a head coach.

"Why would Phillips be out of a job going 10-6? That is a good year, and he won't be out of a job like htat. "

umm yeah he would. He could be out of a job no matter what, they already paid Jason Garret to be the head coach of the future, they paid alot to keep him their untill Phillips is gone. JOnes will fire Phiilips easy if its 10-6. Heck Hes probobly gone no matter what.

"They will go to the NFC Championship game because they are a good team, and they have the talent to do that."

This isnt about that really, Its about Which coaches are more on the hot seat. They might get to the championship game, but If they dont he is probobly gone.

Phillips hasnt won a playoff game their, and Next year they will have a new stadium and probobly a new coach as well.

The Cowboys are too good and are Expected to win, which puts more pressure on them if they dont.

The 49ers though, Have little Talent, and have a new O-coordinator.
Since they have a new o-coordiantor if they do bad less pressure is on nolan because they had a new system to adjust to. So Nolan has lower expctations and a new coordiantor, which means hes Not Expected to do well, which puts less pressure on him

If he is gone no matter what, how does that make him on the hot seat? That usually means that is in his last year of the deal, and that is what it is going to be.

Just because they signed a coach, doesn't meant that they want Phillips out, and that is on the hot seat. It usually means that he is a good coach, and they want him to stay and help out the team, like he has been.

Okay, so you are switching from he is gone no matter what to if they don't make it to the NFC Championship Game he is gone. What is it?

I don't see him being on the hot seat. I see him being done after this year, which means no hot seat.

You are saying that they will have a new coach like he is going to be gone. If they are gonig to have a new coach, HOW IS HE ON THE HOT SEAT?

Who cares if there is pressure on the COWBOYS, it is wheather or not Phillips is on the hot seat, which he isn't, because according to you, he is "probably gone no matter what." That means that there is no hot seat that he is sitting on.

He is going to get fired if he doesn't have a winning season this year, as few coaches last after 3 losing seasons.

Who cares about pressure? Pressure isn't a factor in this.

The thing is Dyhard, That If he get s to the Super Bowl hes safe, most likely. He is on the hot seat because he is leaving, The questions when. He Is on the hot seat because That time could be after the season if he does bad. But if he wins a few playoff games hes safe or a year.

They didnt pay garret I beleive more than Phillips or close to it, for him to be o-coordinator. They paid him so he could be there when Phillips faulters.

And mayeb pressure wasnt the right word, but what i was saying is that The 49ers dont expect to win that many games. so if they go 6-10 or something like that , its not going to be put on Nolans lack of coaching, its going to be put on the lack of good players, Which should go on the GM. Now Nolan may be on the hot seat a litte, but heck if you think about it most coaches are, but Phillips is more on the hot seat becaus ethey expect him to win, and j. jones is waitying for an excuse to fire phillips, or at least demote him, Which means If phillips does bad hes gone, If Nolan does bad he could stay anyways.

I gotta go early, ill finish tomarrow. this wil be a good one.

Report Offensive Comment

Hmm, this will be an interesting TD. Coaches on the hot seat. So many to choose from.

Report Offensive Comment

Im leaning right but will wait for the rest of the arguments

Why Kiffen is still there is a mystery. HE SAID he was asked to resign and refused.

How hot can your seat be when the boss says: "I want you to quit"

You say: "No"

He says: "O.K. go do your job, then"

The flippen owner of the team asks the coach to resign, is refused, and says OK keep coaching? You kidding me? Can't really call THAT a job on the line.

Report Offensive Comment

Ah, but CCC who is the owner we are dealing with here? ;-)

Report Offensive Comment

Wade Phillips is almost certainly gone as head coach after this year. Even with a S.B. win. Funny thing is...I could actually see Wade becoming the defensive coordinator after this season and being happy to do so. Aside from Jimmy Johnson, coaches LOVE Jerry Jones. Dave Campo, once the head coach of the Cowboys, is now their secondary coach. You kidding me? This year is all about making a playoff push. Next year will be all about a new start in a new stadium.

"Ah, but CCC who is the owner we are dealing with here? ;-)"

That's the point. ;-)

Report Offensive Comment

Actually, IMO the point is that Davis is insane. See Art Shell. You can be in good graces one second and on the hot seat in the next.

Report Offensive Comment

But Kiffen was asked to resign. He refused. Al said...OK. Not much of a hot seat there, lol.

Report Offensive Comment

Al knew he asked too late. Didn't want a repeat of the year prior when we didn't have a coach just weeks prior to the draft!

I'll shut up now and let these people argue their points. lol

i say john gruden too. other than their super bowl run his first year and last year they havn't been all that great. how many qb's does he have on the roster now 6 or 7. wasting space that could be used to find people to play other positions on the team.
