Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football should not be a TD topic. This is a site about sports. This is a site for people passionate about sports. This is a site to argue about sports. In fact, it is titled Fannation therefore it???s a site for fans of sports.

First off, there is no skill in Fantasy football. It is simply a factor luck. It is luck to get the first pick so you can get LT or AP, It???s simply a matter of luck that if you did get LT or AP don???t get hurt. Anyone can play fantasy football.

Secondly, its clear that when TO was in his last Philly season everyone hated him. Now he has the Cowgirl fans, but any true fan dislikes TO. My friend who had been trying to get me to join a Fantasy league was at my house watching on Sunday. TO caught a slant, slipped a tackle and proceeded to head to the end zone with my friend Cheering??????? He said he wasn???t rooting for TO but he had TO on his fantasy team. If it can make a person root for the likes of TO then its bad. Period.

Fantasy sports can actually enhance someone's knowledge of a sport. When I started doing fantasy baseball and football in the mid 80s, I didn't know much outside of my favorite teams. Fantasy sports made me follow all teams and players closer so I knew who to pick up and when.

Yes a lot of it does come down to luck (injuries and draft picks) but it still takes knowledge to know when to drop someone, when to pick up a little known prospect coming up in the minors or who to snag as your late round sleeper in your draft.

In order to succeed at fantasy sports, luck plays a part but you really do need to know everything about all teams and players.....or your rosters will end up busted.

I know as much about teams and players as anyone alive (except Goodell) and I dont/have never done Fantasy sports. You can gain the same education by following the game closesly and still have the freedom to hate and love who you choose.

America is about Freedom of Choice. Fantasy football removes your freedom. Trust me, you hate Randy Moss for all his shenanigans as much as the next guy, but if he falls into your draft grasp are you gonna root for him this year???? Yes you will b/c you will have no choice, and its wrong. If you arent a Dallas fan and you root for TO its wrong. Its a crime against Social Fanism and if Fantasy Football makes you do it then it is WRONG and BAD, VERY VERY BAD.

Fantasy Football is removing true fanhood and comraderie amongst fans. Its making the Crazed Fan evolve into the Casual Fan who likes everyone. Thats not what the games about. Its about running, hitting, and hating.

I do have friends that choose not to do Fantasy sports because they do want to root for their favorite team's enemies....however, I do it but I won't root for a player to beat my favorite team or score against my team just to pad my fantasy stats. It is a game and helps enhance the experiernce.

You can still be a crazed fan while playing fantasy sports - it is just making sure your fantasy team no way crosses over into your fandom. This is easier to do if there is no money on the line (which is why I do only the free ones).

Although some people do end up rooting for their fantasy players, as you say, this is the land of freedom of Choice so they can root for whoever they choose - whether it be their favorite team or just the players on their fantasy rosters.

I personally do like how it enhances my knowledge of all players - most I would not have known due to the position they play - relievers in baseball is a perfect example due to the Hold stat which is big in my fantasy baseball leagues.

I dont have much time today, sorry

1. Baseball has nothing to do with football. There are only Baseball fans in 2 cities.

2. Like anything else in life, the human mind fails to be able to separate those which run together. I dont care who you are.

3. If it can make someone root for TO to score a TD its bad for the game and its future popularity. It is killing what makes it great.

Disagree totally with point 1 of your last argument...I'm assuming you're talking about NY and Boston but forgetting chicago, st louis etc.

Point 2 - any smart person should be able to separate the 2. Do people have a hard time - yes, but just how smart are they and how much of a bandwagon fan of their "favorite" team are they if their fantasy players mean more than their favorite team's players?

Point 3 - anything that expands the knowledge of the game and enhances the expeirence is good for the game. Just like gambling, sometimes your bet is against your favorite team as well, so is that bad.? If gambling and fantasy football are bad for the sport, then the NFL would fail miserably and there would be no where near the number of casual fans there is.

How many football fans are there now only because they started in Fantasy Football?

Frank I know you're unhappy with certain topics but fantasy sports are now ingrained deeply with sports in general. Specifically football and baseball. Lots of ardent fans look forward to it. It supplements the game, and opens up great debates over what players are most valuable.

Just like Keyshawn Johnson said "I don't play fantasy football, I play real football"

I think fantasy football gives a little too much credit to the stat **** of the NFL like Mike Vanderjagt, or the never-ending sleeper star, Justin Fargus.

Players that don't contribute to the W-L stat continually get gassed in fantasy when they really are liabilities on any given team in real life rather than an asset

Fantasy Baseball is good because you learn about guys on bad teams that wouldn't get any press. Like Hanley Ramirez. Fantasy players no this guy is a superstar. Those that don't play might not

football is about running hitting and hating...

i thought it you scored more point than your opponents you won? i guess not

Special, That would be because they are two very differnet contests.

Fantasy football doesn't include linemen, defensive backs, punters etc. There is no team concept and is simply a stat game. One has nothing to do with the other.

How can you make a connection between the game of football and fantasy football? Fantasy football has NO bearing on the NFL what-so-ever. That is about as stupid as you comparing whatever football you play to that which is played in the NFL.

Frank - I'll have to finish this first thing in the morning.

where did baseball get involved here? there are only 2 baseball teams with fans, all nfl teams have fans

Fantasy sports are fun but it has changed the dynamics of who people root for. Favorite teams are secondary to the performace of the players on each person fantasy rosters. If it means I could win $200 and my WR catches a pass to beat my favorite team in the super bowl...Well there is always next year for that super bowl......I'll take my $$$$.
