GB has no choice but to bring Favre back and let him start. All other options will cause the GB fan base to be angry and dissapointed that Favre is gone. GB cant afford to let Favre go to another team.
So, Green Bay should trade Rodgers to whoever and start grooming Brohm to be the starter down the line.
The Packers now have Favre back and have their QB of the future, and yet the fan base is still happy and GB is still in the hunt for a SB.
This is the only way for the Packers to come out ahead on the Favre situation.
Next arguements will be better, I did this in a hurry.
Dyhard -- Badgers/Brewers won said 07/08, 12:01 PM
I say that he shouldn't and here is why.
The Packers have Aaron Rodgers, and he has been waiting 4 years to get his chance. Also, the Packers just went and got TWO quarterbacks from the draft, and they are ready to move on from Favre.
Brett Favre only cares about himself, and this is showing more and more.
Every year, the Packers have to go down to Mississippi and kiss Favre's butt to come and play. That didn't happen this year so he quit. But now he wants to return, and the Packers are saying thanks, but no thanks.
I don't think that it would even benefit the Packers because once Favre is done, Rodgers is going to be very upset with this. Plus, Rodgers never gets to play and he is still young. He can throw the ball, and is a great QB (as we saw in the Cowboys-Packers game).
The Packers also got Brian Brohm and the other QB for their team. They don't want Favre because they don't know if he is going to come back, and then mid-way though the season he says, I don't want to play anymore.
The Packers don't want this happen, and they just want to have a good team, and get over the Brett Favre thing.
He shouldn't come back and play for the Packers.

I couldnt agree more. However, the Packers can not aqfford to let him walk and go to the Vikings. The Vikings have alreaddy been picked by experts for the super Bowl, and adding Favre would cause more and more people to believe that the Vikes would be serious contenders, which would be true.
So, to stop the Vikings from potentially getting Favre, the Packers have to make him the starter. Then Green Bay should trade Rodgers to the Bears for a draft pick.
So would think trading Rodgers there is a bad idea, but I disagree. First off, the Bears have absolutely no widew receivers. Therefore, Rodgers would have to make more plays byb himself, cmpared to where in Green Bay he could throw to the WRs and let them make plays for him him.
If that is not enough, Rodgers will have to completely learn a new playbook, and will ahve to adapt to a new city as well.
What it really comes down to is that GB can not afford to trade Favre to a another team and have Favre knock the Packers out of the playoffs.
Dyhard -- Badgers/Brewers won said 07/08, 08:36 PM
They shouldn't let him walk. They should trade him to an AFC team. I think that is the best solution right now. They would get a player or two in return, and he would be going to an AFC team that he can help out down here.
The Packers don't want to deal with this anymore...have it be another team's problem.
The Packers WILL NOT let him go to the Vikings. That would be just plain stupid.
These so called "experts" know as much as we do. The Vikings aren't making it to the SUper Bowl.
The Packers shouldn't make him the starter, because they have Rodgers, Brohm, and Flynn there, and the Packers are ready to move on.
Trading Rodgers to the Bears would just be plain STUPID. Don't trade any of your players to a divisional rival.
You disagree? The Bears don't need a good QB...that would be a very dumb move for the Packers to make.
It would be a good idea for the Packers to keep Rodgers and have him play for the Packers and actually do well, like he showed in the Packers-Cowboys game.
Umm...why would you want to give the Bears a good QB? That would be a waste for the Packers to spend all that money for him to sit on the bench for 3-4 years, and then trade him.
travis31; Heisman???? said 07/09, 11:48 AM
He could go to the Bears or anyone really. Who else is going to give you a decent draft pick at this time in the offseason.
Do you really think the Pack could get decent value for trading Favre? Everyone knows he would be a rental player. The very best you could get for him is a 5th round pick.
The Packers can not trade Brett Favre. He has been the face of the franchise for a long time and is the best QB on the Packers. Lets face it, the Packers have a BETTER chance to win a SB with Favre than they do Rodgers.
And that is what this league all about. Do what gives you the best chance to win, and for the Packers, that is keeping Brett FAvre, trading Aaron Rodgers, and grooming Brian Brohm for the future.
Green Bay drafted Rodgers to early, and they need to get some value for him before he walks after this year and becomes a free agent.
Rodgers will be a fine QB, but never great. If you watched the DAL/GB game, the receivers were making all the plays. Rodgers was just throwing short crossing routes, Thats nothing Brohm cant do down the line.
Dyhard -- Badgers/Brewers won said 07/09, 12:13 PM
The Packers will absolutely NOT going to trade Aaron Rodgers to the Bears. The Packers AREN'T going to let that happen.
Do you really think the Bears are going to give the Packers a decent draft pick?
The Packers don't really care, in my opinion. Brett Favre texts the Packers GM, and he doesn't want to talk about it...he is on vacation. Now., that just seems like they really don't want Favre, and want to just MOVE ON.
Umm...I bet some teams would give a 2nd rounder for Favre.
They don't want to keep him, they want to get on, and move on. That was why they drafted two young QBs in Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn. They don't want to think of Favre anymore.
They need to get Rodgers some playing time, and he is a good QB. They will have more opportunities. You need to take a step back, to go forward, and that is what the Packers are going to do...take a step back, then go forward, farther than where they were last year.
They are going to have to move on from Brett Favre, and why not have it already happen? Favre, if he comes back, will probably play his last year.
I'm not saying keeping Rodgers for a while, just keep Rodgers until his contract his up.

Report Offensive CommentI'm as big a Packer/Favre fan as anybody. I've loved watching him play for all these years. Now it is time for hime to join Michael Strahan in the booth if he still wants to be involved with football. I hate to say it but if he returns and screws over Rodgers at this point in time it will certainly lessen my opinion of him.
Aaron has sat patiently on the bench for three years waiting his turn, he's been told since March that it will be his turn, and I'm ready to turn the page to the next chapter.
Also I would hate to see Rodgers go to someplace like Minny or Detroit and then turn into the next legendary QB. I think he has what it takes to be a very outstanding QB in the NFL and I'd sure like togive him a fair shot at showing what he can do wearing the Green and Gold.

Report Offensive CommentGreen Bay needs to accept the they picked there QB of the future to early. The soomer they realize this they can move Rodgers and move on with Favre in Green Bay until he decides to retire. Once he retires, Brohm will take over and succesfully lead the Pack for years to come.

Report Offensive CommentHe retired. He had a chance to think about it, and he stepped away. To remove Rodgers now would be incredibly bush-league. The organization needs to move on- their star decided to call it quits, and they made adjustments that should be undone.
If Favre is serious about coming back, I agree with Dyhard that they should trade him to an AFC squad that needs a rent-a-player. But if he ends up with the Vikings, so be it. Better to keep your integrity and do the right thing.
Good points by both but I have to go right.

Report Offensive CommentThe Packers should let Favre come back and play. Yes, he should have thought more about his decision, but, if Elway would have changed his mind, do you think Shanahan and Bowlen would have said, "Thanks, John, but we are moving forward with Brister and Griese." Don't think so. Favre played well last year, the team got to the NFC Championship game. DUH. Let him come back. Better arguments on the right, however.

I disagree. Miami was seeking a 1st rounder and now, supposedly, a 2nd rounder for Jason Taylor and no ones really bit. Why? A 2nd rounder is quite a bit for a player who may only play 1-2 years. Plus wasn't Moss like a 3rd round pick? Unless someone is going to take a big risk and think the QB spot is the one spot that will put them into the playoffs, then I doubt any team will pony up a 2nd.
