If u think someone other than the brewers will win the NL CENTRAL..Lets THROWDOWN
Ellsbury Rocks said 07/27, 04:43 PM
I think that the Chicago Cubs are gonna win the NL central even with the recent surge the Brewers have gone on. The Cubs are the more balanced team overall in the division.
They have pitching with Zambrono and Harden leading the pitching staff to a 3.84 ERA. Those two are a good 1-1 punch while Ryan Dempster has became a quality started. He has a a 11-4 record and a 2.99 ERA that is worthy of an ace not a number three starter.
There number 4 starter is Ted Lilly who while overpaid is a pretty decent guy to have going 4th in your rotation. He has a 10 wins and a 4.49 ERA while striking out 120 batters.
Their number 5 guy has better stats than Lilly. Jason Marquiz is only 6-6 in 18 starts but his 4.44 ERA is one of the highest for a number 5 starter in the majors. If they need spot starts they have Cahd Gaudin and Sean Marshall two guys who have performed well as SP before and have been servicable reliever so far this year.
As for their bullpen they have Kerry Wood, Neil Cotts, Carlos Marmol, and Chad Gaudin all have ERA under 4. Then they just brought up a flame thrower who should solidfy it even furthur.
Overall their pitching is pretty good. Batting next argument

TheBrewers have SP top
There number 1 guy(CC Sabathia)leads the majors in K's,and has 6 total cg.There number two guy Ben sheets has a low era(2.87) , started the all-star game, has 10 wins and 3 losses, and 3 total cg.There number 3 pitcher manny parra is 9-3 with a 3.72 era, there number 4 starter Dave Bush(home)/Seth MCclung(road)Dave bush has a era in the 2's and home and Seth Has an era in the 3's on the road. The 5 starter is 5-6 with a 4.65 era.
The Bullpen's relievers are not bad
Eric Gagne: 6.42 era,4-2 with 10 saves(had a horrible start of season,a lot better of late)
Guillermo Mota:5.35 era,2-5,1 saves(good start of season, bad of late)
David Riske:4.18era,1-1,1 save(good all season except for 3 outing after coming of DL)
Brian Shouse:2.34era,4-1,2 saves(good and reliable)
Saloman Torres:2.59 era,5-2,20 saves(very good and started closer role about 1 month 2weeks in to season)
Carlos Villanueva: 4.74 era,4-5,1 save(started season as starter thats why his era is so high, but in reliever role he's really good!!!
in fact Brian Shouse is pitching now
Ellsbury Rocks said 07/27, 05:31 PM
The Bullpen's relievers are not bad - You try to prove this by showing their stats and that hurt your case. Gagne has a 6.42 ERA its amasing he still is pitchin in the majors after last year second half and this year so far with those numbers.
Overall only two of your guys had a ERA under 4 and only three under 4.5 while the Cubs have 5 guys with ERAs under 4 and a fifth with a 4,5 ERA so they obvisouly have a butter bullpen.
As for hitting the Cubs have these guys leading the way.
Soto- A catcher hitting .273 with 17 HR and 58 RBI. He was the starting C for the NL all stars.
Lee- Hitting near .300 with 16 HR, 61 RBI, and 5 steals. Hes the big bat in the middle of the lineup.
Ryan Theriot- Hitting .320 with 15 steals setting up the bases for the big bats in the middle of the lineup.
Ramirez- Hes hitting .270 but he has 18 HR and 70 RBI.
Fukudome- He has slowed down but still gets on base .385 times while providing a little pop and RBI.
Soriono- 15 HR and 41 RBI to go with 7 steals in only 240 abats due to injuries. He just came back and should be a big part to Cubs second half success.
Overall they have scored the second must run in the majors.

Watch out KG Fan, he might try to use the "CC has three straight complete games, so the team will win" tactic.

The Indianapolis Indians have my favorite player of all time(McCutchen), and my favorite pitcher of all time is easily the knuckleballer Tim Wakefield.

Pirates pitching will be stronger once Capps gets back than it was at any other point in the season. Nady is having a career year, but Pearce will be able to keep most of that production.

We all saw how the Brewers faded down the stretch last year. And so did C.C. (at least in the playoffs).
They have explosive hitting but they're streaky and they still need a REALLY good bullpen arm. Gagne and Mota were TERRIBLE additions. No way to sugar-coat it. Don't know what they were thinking when they made those 2 deals.

You are an idiot. Bay probably won't go anywhere, and the Mets aren't willing to give away their very best prospects(system is drained already) for Bay. Send me a td challenge if you think he will be traded.

The Brewers won't even finish second. St. Louis will finish second and take the Wild Card.

They can't afford Bay, they would give up too much. You said that the Pirates will probably trade him, but that is completely wrong. They probably won't trade him, and they may even try to give him an extension.

And the Pirates would still have some pretty good offense without Bay. If they trade him, McCutchen would be next in line, and he is going to be a stud. Pearce has been good in the majors, and of coure Mclouth is having a great year. Doumit, Sanchez, and Wilson can all hit. And of course, Adam Laroche has been the best hitter in baseball over the last month.
