I know people will get all pissed off by me trying to determine the best game of week 17 when the season hasn't even started yet, but this is just for fun
Week 1: Tough choice, but gotta go MNF Vikes at the Pack
Week 2: Pats at Jets
Week 3: Dallas at Green Bay
Week 4: Another tough choice, but Skins at 'Boys
Week 5: Pitt at Jax
Week 6: Pats at Chargers
Week 7: Tough choice, but gotta go SD at Buffalo
Week 8: Hate to have 'em 3 weeks in a row, but Chargers vs. Saints in London
Week 9: Pats at Colts obviously
Week 10: Colts at Steelers
Week 11: Chargers at Steelers
Week 12: Colts at SD Sunday Night
Week 13: Gonna get grilled for this, but its what I believe, Colts at Browns
Week 14: Very tough, but by a hair 'Boys at Pitt
Week 15: G-men in Dallas
Week 16: Indy at Jax
Week 17: Giants at Minny
A throwdowner named NCshvDavid said 08/20, 08:45 PM
week 1
Washington At Giants- First, its the FIRST GAME- the long national nightmare ends! Plus we get to see Jason Taylor and the Champs go at it.
** hon mention to the first quarter of the jets/fins game- then we get bored and flip to better teams **
Week 2
Pitt VS Cleveland- If the Browns go 0-2 we know its going to be a LONG year
Week3
Jax vs Indy -Is Jax ready to step up?
Week 4
Agree
Week 5
Minny NO- we should know if either team can challange this year.
Week 6
All DAY!
Week 7
Indy GB - If Rogers is going to play QB1 - this is his best shot to quiet the crities
Week8
Agree
Week 9
All Day Pt2
Week 10/11
Agree
Week 12
All day Pt3
Week 13
Pitt NE - If Pitt is going to challange for that 4th spot in the AFC- it happens here.
Week 14
NE Seattle- SuperBowl Preveiw? or Mikes last run?
Week 15
Agree
Week 16
Philly at Washington - they playoffs begin for these two teams
Week 17
Den / SD - either the Chargers lose homefeild- or Shananananahan starts printing resumes
** All games are of course second to the Mighty Carolina Panthers games of course- I understand 73-0 gets dull for you non Panther fans :-) **
NYGiantsSBXLIICHAMPS said 08/20, 09:04 PM
Well David you made some interesting picks, but they were good for the most part. Onto our differences:
Week 1: Even as a Giants fan, I know that this isn't the "best" game of the week, which is what the throwdown is about. By your logic would Chiefs- Falcons be the best game of the week just because its the first one? Sure everyone will watch it but by no means does that entitle that as the best game
Week 2: I can't see how Steelers-Browns would top Brady vs. Favre in one of the most heated rivalries in all of football
Week 3: I think when the Colts go down to Jax in week 16 will be the much more important match-up. Cowboys-Packers is a match-up of the two best records from the NFC last season, and we will start to see how Rodgers season will go
Week 5: Me personally, I'd rather watch a playoff rematch as opposed to a game featuring two teams that missed the postseason all together
Week 7: I thought about this game, but inter-conferences games are always more important, and since I see the Bills improving, that match-up is the most interesting to me for this weekend
Week 13: I knew my challenger would put this one down, and next argument I'll get to this one
A throwdowner named NCshvDavid said 08/21, 11:49 AM
Week 1
Yes any game would get bonus points for the end of my torment- but this one give me the Super Bowl champs without Strahan vs a Rival- were the Giants Good or just lucky - If the Skins Thump them its going to be a LONG year for Eli
Week 2
I was unaware Brett and Brady HAD a rivalry, but ok- and the Jets are going to lose this game and badly- But Pitt has been on top for a LONG time- and Cleveland had thier best year Ever- this game is going to be an indication of whom is going to run the AFC North - the Jets/Pats game means nothing unless Brett does the AMAZING
Week 3
Dallas at Green Bay would be all over it IF Brett was playing - consider by now we will know I Rogers is worth a Poo or not- But going into the season? Give me a look at DG and the Jags vs the Colts- I love to see teams go against the established ones
Week 5
I just SAW the Jags and both Minny and the Saints are picked to go DEEP in the playoffs (gotta love Dr Z) both teams could be 4-0 or 3-1 at this point this could be a NFC championship preview for Dallas Haters
Week 7- If the Pack is 3-3 or worse we might see Matt Flynn - 4-2 or better- we might have something in GB- and Manny beign Manny
NYGiantsSBXLIICHAMPS said 08/21, 09:18 PM
Onto our other differences
Week 13: This is the most overrated rivalry in football. The Pats completely OWN the Steelers, they've won 5 of the past 6 meetings, and the games usually aren't even close. Last year the Pats had their only blowout of December/January of last season against, you guessed it, the Steelers. The Pats will romp them once again. Give me Colts Browns this week, cause I'd MUCH rather see a shoot out then a blow out
Week 14: I almost put this game down, but I think Pitt-Dallas will be a much more competitive game, while the Pats beating Seattle by a lot wouldn't surprise me
Week 16: Colts at Jax in a game that will most likely decide the division isn't even in the same league as Philly and Washington, where this match-up at the very best will decide a wildcard spot
Week 17: This is the pick I couldn't believe. I highly doubt Denver will be in the playoff hunt at this time, and judging from both of last years games (including a 41-3 laugher IN Denver), this game probably won't even be compettive. Giants-Vikings more than likely will decide a playoff berth, and maybe its just me personally, but I want to see how Eli fares against the Vikings this year
A throwdowner named NCshvDavid said 08/22, 08:50 AM
Week 13 - Yes the Pats own the Steelers Just as I want to see if The Browns and Jags can bump into the Chargers/Pats/Colts - I want to see if the Steelers can move up as Well - or are they going to be fighting SD for 3rd spot again.
Week 14
Mikes last year- and by now the Hawks should have 11/12 wins in that weak Division, and will be looking to see if they are a LEGIT team or simply a good team with a weak schedule and a sad Div?
The Pats win this game by 20 and the Hawks could be done and we are back to dismissing them- come closer than 2 TDs and the COwboys will have to look REAL hard at them
Win the Game and the NFC might not be so easy to pick this year.
Week 16
How can you not love the start of the playoffs? Depending on how McNabb is playing you may be looking at his final run- Or the winner could be looking to knock the Cards,Panthers,Giants and Packers out of the playoffs
Week 17
Mike Shanannahan is one of the most respected coaches in NFL history by some, and hated by others and if Denver is not improving this may be the Last week see of him - Plus we get to see how the Chargers look- vs a team they SHOULD beat
NY/MN might be rematched next week

Wow David this is a new tradition, you've accepted my last 5 throwdowns, but there isn't anyone else I'd want to throwdown with. Good luck my friend

I don't know who to vote 4. Both list are good. However, it is nice to see people having a throwdown about something other than if one team is better than another,it gets boring after a while.

What about the Dolphins-Cheifs Game? That game is sure to break some kind of guiness world record - just not one that anybody would actually like to have

Yoda: Truth is I expect a lot out of Dallas but I also expect teams to play them real hard. They have a tough schedule. I also like the teams they're playing against in the weeks I pointed out. I can't help to think they'll be awesome games. I'm not pulling for one over the other. First and foremost, I'm a Jets fan! I just like the NFL and many players.

"Week 2: I can't see how Steelers-Browns would top Brady vs. Favre in one of the most heated rivalries in all of football" -NYGiants
Are you kidding me??!?! Steelers vs Browns is a MUCH longer and far more storied rivalry than Jets-Pats. Steelers-Browns is far more heated, however Jets-Pats might be the better game.

As of right now, Jets-Pats is the bigger rivalry, especially coming off of spygate from last season. When did I ever say Jets-Pats was longer or more storied? Read what I write next time before criticizing

I agree w/ David. I think the Pitt Cle game in wk 2 is better than NE v. NY. Who cares about the Jets v. the Pats? Honestly, the Pats are going to win that division hands down despite what all the Brett Favre homers are saying about the Jets! Voting right
